Ok hive, I need help here. Made me a simplified tube line art drawing, a PNG file. I then converted its palette down to 2 colors and placed it into my TUBIFIER pedal artwork in Adobe AI, re-sized, etc. Looks fine. But I need to get it to fill as RDG_WHITE. I have the swatch already installed and all lettering prints white. But if I change tube to RDG_WHITE and save file, it does not stick. When I re-open file, color swatch is undefined. How do I get RDG_WHITE to stick?

Two new projects in the works...

First up is BUGLE ZERO, an opamp-based transimpedance input phonostage. Basically, I replaced the first stage of a BUGLE with the PICCOLO ZERO stage, then inverted output stage, simplifying things as I went.

Got initial prototype dialed in already. I can't believe how good and quiet this thing sounds! And the bass, oh my goodness, most solid and defined I've created yet.

Second is the TUBIFIER PRO, a tube buffer designed to give you the same second harmonic distortion characteristic of a single-ended tube output stage. You know, those mega-buck 300B or similar amplifiers? Yeah, that sound. Place the TUBIFIER PRO ahead of your solid-state power amplifier to get the same tones at a fraction of the cost. Similar to the BARITONE, but with 10x the warmth. It is preset internally for unity gain and has a switch to select output as either direct (bypass) or tube, so you can switch on the fly. Probably best used for jazz or simple vocals.

Also perfect for studio use, where you can warm up each track separately!

This is not your father's overdrive (12AX7). Expect something better, with a triode driving pentode into clipping. Tons of bloom and tube feel.

No semiconductors in signal path. No digital. No surface mount.

Built this to test out my TUBIFIER STEREO. Mono input converted to stereo, then stereo output from pedal switch selected to mono. This way I can simply adjust both channels for a perfect 0dB gain.

Always something in the works! Will eventually need a replacement enclosure for FRYBABY, but I'm also thinking of another tube buffer, this one with 1% distortion at 2Vrms. Why? To mimic the sound of an expensive single-ended-triode amplifier without spending a fortune. Anyhow, another brain fart led to the idea of making a transimpedance version of BUGLE...

I worked out a common enclosure and styling for all three products. Trying to keep costs down and performance up, they will all sort of look like a PICCOLO ZERO but larger.

For the BUGLE ZERO, all I have to do is replace the first stage with that from the PICCOLO ZERO and fine tune resistor values. Why? Because the Dos Locos cost $11,000 and I can do it for about $349...

Sad story with a happy ending...

While I was away on vacation a few weeks ago, my tube dealer sold out their entire stock of 6088 tubes (all 18,000 of them), which is what I had designed the TUBIFIER around. Hence, it is now a limited production run.

How to move forward? Pivot. Found me a new tube, the 6BF7 with better characteristics and no microphonics. Enough in stock. Not only that, but it is a dual triode, which means I can make this a stereo pedal. Take that VALVULATOR!

Pedal will be same size, same cost, but with no LEVEL control. Gain will be adjusted to unity internally for an always on 1:1 tube buffer. Switchover will likely be sometime in October.
