But it is normal for the skies to be Smokey and the smell of smoke will be everywhere! Don’t be alarmed it is just part of this time of year to see smoke and smell smoke!

Severe winter weather is expected across our area this weekend, including heavy snow, dangerously cold temperatures, and hazardous travel conditions. Please prepare NOW.

⚠️ OXYGEN-DEPENDENT RESIDENTS — VERY IMPORTANT:
If you or a loved one relies on oxygen:
✅ Make sure you have extra oxygen supplies available BEFORE the storm arrives.
✅ Keep oxygen equipment charged and ready (including backup batteries if applicable).
✅ Plan for the possibility of power outages and delays in emergency response due to snow/ice-covered roads.

🚑 Hominy EMS Notice:
During significant winter weather events, our EMS service may have limited oxygen supply availability, and response times may be delayed due to road conditions and snowfall accumulation.

👵 CHECK ON OTHERS:
Please check on:
• Elderly neighbors
• Oxygen-dependent residents
• Anyone who may not be able to prepare alone

Great response from the City of Hominy Fire Department and The Hominy Ranchers Rural Fire Departments for quickly extinguishing the blazes (yes multiple) this evening off of 1701 east of town. It is that time to remind everyone you know that the grass is dry and will start a blaze without much help! Thank you men for your dedication to keep Hominy and the surrounding lands safe!

With all the rain means a lot off fuel for fires! The Hominy Ranchers, the City of Hominy and the Osage Nation BIA fire fighters attended a grass fire worked together and extinguished the blaze! Be mindful the grass is drying out fast! It’s also hay season and with that comes the risk of equipment fires! If you see smoke always call 911 so it can be investigated!

Water System Update

Thank you for your patience with both recent and planned tasks that will improve our water quality, increase operator safety, and restore our capacity.

The boil order is expected to be lifted by Tuesday, June 10, dependent on DEQ’s schedule and decision.

The city continues to comply with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality’s Corrective Actions and Requirements for Suspending the Boil Order memo posted here on May 29.

All of the testing for additive levels have been positive as we await the results of the latest sample hand-delivered to Stillwater this morning.

We are also continuing our compliance to the long list of operational, maintenance, and training requirements.

We will continue to keep you updated as soon as we receive any news.

2) TURN AROUND DON’T DROWN
3) remember the bacteria that can be in flood waters so be mindful of letting children play in flood waters
4) use common sense when it comes to all modes of severe weather.

Summit Utilities will be handing out FREE cases of water today, June 2nd, in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church 202 S. Price beginning at 11:00am until they run out. Please share!

The water distribution center at Friends Rd and Hwy 99 is handing out bottled water now.

Bring a utility bill or drivers license to show proof of residency.

Note: the water in the water buffalos should be used for non-drinking purposes, such as bathing and dishwashing.
