It's Homecoming Week at my school this week and today is a spirit day, 'Cowboy Day'. When I arrived on campus, a few of my freshman (who I absolutely adore), inquired why I wasn't dressed like a cowboy.

Um . . . friend . . . can you see ME dressed up as a cowboy? That look may work for others, but on me, it doesn't hit the same...trust me! You ain't bout to have ME up in here looking like one of the Village People!

I love my kiddos and school to death, but I'll have to sit this one out and join y'all tomorrow :)

In reading To Kill a Mockingbird with my students, we are studying the issue and history of racism in the US. My students are learning about redlining and restrictive covenants today and have been surprised at our own history and outraged at the atrocities. This is why it's so important to teach these books and also unedited, true history!
