Alonzo J. May, Born in Saint Stephens, Alabama, in 1908, joined the James Chapel Baptist Church in Saint Stephens in 1921, later moved to Koenton and attended the Koenton Rosenwald school until ninth grade. Mr. J. E. Rain was Principal and Ms. Georgia Mitchell was his teacher. In 1929 he graduated Clark County Trade School in Clarke County, Alabama.  in 1934 he married Izora Holcombe and they were blessed with seven children. He and his family later moved to Mobile. May obtained employment at a dry goods store. He later moved back to Chatom, Alabama, and became a farmer. He passed in 2003, his wife passed in 2007. They both lived in Chatom until their death. They have four children that live in various cities in Alabama. Their daughter, Lodis Ceil Johnson, was well known for her Ministry work and weekly inspirational articles published in the Washington County News. Lodis Ceil Johnson passed in 2022.
