to 2020, when a major milestone transformed two decades of planning into a tangible water supply asset for Highlands Ranch Water.

After years of planning, investment, and construction, the Chatfield Storage Reallocation Project received final approval, clearing the way for Highlands Ranch Water to begin storing water in Chatfield Reservoir in 2021.

Through the project, we added 6,922 acre-feet of new storage capacity to our surface water supplies, giving us greater flexibility to manage supplies from year to year and strengthening long-term water reliability for our community.

As we celebrate our 45th anniversary, we invite you to read the full story about our journey to storing water in Chatfield Reservoir ➡ https://www.highlandsranchwater.org/2020-2021-chatfield-storage-becomes-a-reality

Another milestone worth celebrating! Phase 1B improvements at our Joseph B. Blake Water Treatment Plant are officially complete, strengthening the reliability and redundancy of this important facility. Investing in critical infrastructure like this helps ensure we can continue providing reliable drinking water to our community today and for years to come.

A big thank you to Carollo Engineers, Inc., Garney, and our Highlands Ranch Water team for their hard work and collaboration throughout this project. Great projects take great partnerships!

We’re proud to have members of our team sharing their expertise with insightful presentations and moderating sessions — and even putting their skills to the test in pipe cutting contests.

And a special congratulations to our Communications Manager, who received the 2026 RMSAWWA/RMWEA Volunteer Excellence Award 👏

Thank you to the Rocky Mountain Section American Water Works Association (RMSAWWA) and the Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association (RMWEA) for bringing together so many dedicated professionals who are shaping the future of water and wastewater.
