⚠️ A SIMPLE FIRE SAFETY REMINDER FOR EVERYONE ⚠️

Leaving chargers plugged in even when not in use may seem harmless —
but damaged, overheating, or low-quality chargers can cause sparks, short circuits, and even electrical fires. 🔥

✅ Unplug chargers after use
✅ Replace damaged cords immediately
✅ Avoid cheap or fake chargers
✅ Never leave devices charging unattended, especially overnight

Many house fires start from small electrical problems that people ignore.

A simple habit like unplugging your charger can help protect your home, your family, and your life.

🚒 Prevent fire before it starts.

The Highland Fire District was honored to host the 8th Grade hands-on field trip on Friday, April 10th! The volunteer firefighters shared this field with the students to activate their interests, provide education and show them what they do! Students were assigned in groups and rotated to 10 stations to go through an obstacle course, dressing drill, pumping the fire truck, working with fire hose, history of the Highland Hose Co No 1 and fire district, 9-11 communications, a maze and more!
We hope this experience sparked an interest and we look forward to welcoming them to the world of fire science! Students can sign up for the discovery program through Ulster County at the age of 16

Message from the Ulster County Department of Emergency Services:

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Red Flag Warning for our region, indicating a high risk of fires spreading. Please exercise extreme caution.

The warning extends until at least 6 PM on Thursday, April 9. High winds, low humidity, and moderate temperatures create a high risk for fire to spread. Adhere to the statewide burn ban and exercise caution with fires and hot/burning objects (cigarette butts, fireworks, etc.)

Thank you all and stay safe!
