Beach Cities Democrats is proud to endorse Ray Jackson for reelection to Hermosa Beach City Council. A former mayor, California Coastal Commissioner and retired Army colonel, Ray has continued serving Hermosa through regional leadership on coastal protection, clean energy and local government.

“Ray has served Hermosa with steady, thoughtful leadership,” said Beach Cities Democrats President Ann Gotthoffer. “His service on the City Council and California Coastal Commission demonstrates his commitment to protecting our coast and delivering results for residents.”

Beach Cities Democrats is proud to endorse Maggie Bove-LaMonica for Hermosa Beach City Council. An educator, legal advocate and longtime Hermosa Beach school board trustee, Maggie has served as board president, represented local schools through the California School Boards Association, and spent her career expanding educational opportunity.

“Maggie has spent more than a decade earning the trust of Hermosa families on the school board,” said Beach Cities Democrats President Ann Gotthoffer. “She knows how to bring people together, manage public dollars responsibly and plan for our community’s future.”

Eric grew up in Hermosa and has built a public-service career that includes the Peace Corps, federal budget and drug-safety accountability at the FDA, and leading major wildfire-policy reforms; he also previously served on Hermosa’s Civic Facilities Advisory Group and currently serves as vice president of our club.

“Eric combines deep roots in Hermosa Beach with the passion to make government work,” said Beach Cities Democrats President Ann Gotthoffer. “He brings a fresh perspective and the kind of clear, informed voice our City Council needs right now.”

Across more than 16 years in elected office, Amy has helped deliver the Manhattan Beach Library, Roundhouse Aquarium rehabilitation and new skate park while advancing smoke-free public spaces, food-waste recycling and regional clean power.

“Amy understands Manhattan Beach and the work of governing,” said Beach Cities Democrats President Ann Gotthoffer. “Her experience, environmental leadership and commitment to collaboration are especially important when residents want less division and more problem-solving.”

Thank you to everyone who attended tonight! A special thank-you to the Hermosa Beach City Council candidates for participating in a full forum, and to all the other candidates who joined us and spoke with our members.

At 7 AM tomorrow, Thursday, August 27, all eligible members who signed in in-person will receive a digital ballot to vote on which candidates Beach Cities Democrats should endorse. Voting closes Thursday evening, so please check your email inbox and cast your ballot!

Trump last visited the Trump National Golf Club in 2024. He is slated to speak about his administration’s work on improving the economy and reducing crime.
