I have read your messages and I hear the frustration and concern behind some of your statements. As a mother my top priority is my son. So I get it. Every parent wants their child to stand their ground, etc. regardless of race. The reality that I need folks to realize is that confrontations without self-restraint can have life altering consequences for everyone involved, and that is why we must teach our children wisdom, accountability, self-control, awareness, and respect for life.
I absolutely hate the idea that any young man or young woman should feel they have no ground to stand on. Every American deserves equal protection under the law and equal justice. At the same time, every situation in the Court of Law must be evaluated based on the facts, not assumptions, emotions, politics, or race.
As a mother my obligation and commitment is to teach my son confidence without aggression, courage without recklessness, and strength without violence. We have to teach our kids that walking away from danger is not weakness. Defending yourself when legally necessary is not surrender. The challenge is helping young people recognize the difference.
My mission and goal in running for TN. State Representative district-44 is to support safer communities, stronger families, better educational opportunities, and a justice system that promotes fairness, treats every American Citizen fairly and not on stereotypes or to evoke fear. 🏛️🇺🇸
