Montana Correctional Enterprises inmate workers and staff recently built and donated a children’s playhouse to the Powell County Fairgrounds Improvement Foundation for a fundraising raffle. Proceeds from the raffle will support the ongoing Powell County Fairgrounds rebuild and will be designated to the grandstands and arena projects. We appreciate the opportunity to help support our communities and provide a sense of connection for our incarcerated individuals. Thank you to all involved!

Recently, the children’s area of the visitation department at Montana Women’s Prison received a huge upgrade. Four MWP inmates worked with Yellowstone Art Museum Adult Education Coordinator Merilu Metherell and Tippet Rise Art Education Coordinator Beth Korth to paint the new mural and help bring the space to life. In addition, the Yellowstone Art Museum graciously donated the new kitchen playset, rug, and childrens’ books. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!

The "Roosters for Retention" pheasant-raising program was expanded to Pine Hills Correctional Facility this spring - building skills, supporting wildlife, and inspiring the next generation of youth hunters.

Every Wednesday seeks the assistance of the community to locate offenders who have absconded from supervision. They are generally violent or sexual offenders who should be considered dangerous. If you have any information about their whereabouts, contact your local law enforcement office or call 444-0910.

Montana Department of Corrections prisons are over capacity. Thanks to the support of the Montana Legislature and Governor Greg Gianforte, we're working to fix that. At Montana State Prison, that means additions and improvements that will provide safer facilities for both staff and inmates. Expected completion is February 2029.

Big improvements are coming to Montana State Prison as construction continues on the new low-side housing units. The efforts are part of a larger infrastructure investment by the state to build additional bedspace and bring corrections into the future.
