United Way of the Lewis & Clark Area

United Way of the Lewis & Clark Area Uniting Resources, Organizations, and People to Transform Our Community for Good. Our United Way Network seeks to dismantle disparities.

UWLCA Mission:
To unite resources, organizations, and people to transform our community for good. About Us:
From strengthening local resilience to advancing health, youth opportunity, and financial security, United Way is mobilizing communities to action so all can thrive. With deep local roots around the world, we see how our communities’ greatest challenges are connected — and how we can bring

people and resources together to address them. That’s why we’re here, in our communities, always listening and ready to respond. Working together with our neighbors, we’re strengthening local resilience and advancing health, youth opportunity, and financial security
for all. With more than a thousand United Ways around the world, we share ideas and innovations to drive global impact. Every day, our communities show that when people unite to take action, change is possible. Together, we're creating a future where everyone, everywhere can reach their full potential. UWLCA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Statement:
At the United Way of Lewis & Clark Area, we recognize racism, discrimination and oppression have contributed to disparities that have existed in the past and persist in the present across our nation and in Montana. We acknowledge those inequities are the result of policies and practices that work to marginalize entire populations of people. We denounce discrimination in all its forms because it undermines the well-being and vitality of our communities. We strive to engage residents and community members, especially those whose voices have traditionally been marginalized, in the shared work of building equity and empowerment. We work with public and private partners to co-create solutions that ensure everyone has the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. We believe that diversity drives creativity and innovation, therefore we commit to leveraging all of our assets to create more equitable communities. We know that having varied perspectives helps generate better ideas to solve the complex problems of an ever-changing and increasingly diverse world. Comment Disclaimer:

Sometimes, all it takes is a small act of kindness to make a big difference.
We’re incredibly grateful to community members like Jeff Kuhn of Queen City Wheel House, who generously donated a bicycle to help our unsheltered neighbors get around Helena. With essential resources located throughout the city, reliable transportation can be life-changing.
This week, with one of our favorite volunteers, Alan, drawing a name from a jar during our free weekly shower program, we were excited to present the bicycle to Mark.
Moments like these remind us how much of an impact a single donation can have. Whether you've already cleaned out your garage this spring or are just getting started, we are always grateful for donations of clothing, bedding, shoes, food, bicycles, and other everyday essentials that can help someone in need.
Thank you, Helena, for continuing to show up for your neighbors and helping make our community stronger, one act of kindness at a time. ❤️

Our latest Partner Spotlight features Janette Riis, Executive Director of The Angel Fund, who has been helping local students succeed for the past 12 years.
Founded to meet critical needs in our schools, The Angel Fund supports students in Helena, East Helena, Clancy, Montana City, Canyon Creek, and surrounding communities through programs like their annual Clothing Campaign, year-round Running Shoes Campaign, and their signature fundraiser, Stuff the Bus.
This year, Stuff the Bus is focused on monetary donations, allowing schools to purchase exactly what students need most. Their goal is to raise $50,000 by August to support more than 2,000 students and help create equal opportunities for success.
Want to help? Join the Brewhouse Bingo Night on June 18, stop by Valley Bank to make a matched donation, or visit AngelFundHelena.org to contribute.

We are proud to present the Ron Waterman Spirit of Service Award to Chad Odegard.
This award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond traditional volunteerism and serve as a true force for good in the Helena community.
Since April 2020, Chad has contributed more than 900 volunteer hours to Helena Food Share. From assisting at weekly food markets to delivering emergency food boxes to homebound neighbors and Kid Packs to local schools, Chad has helped ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
Whether delivering Mobile Pantry food packs or connecting the Food Share with local high schools to recruit new volunteers, Chad consistently works to remove barriers to food access while inspiring others to serve.
Thank you, Chad, for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to making Helena a stronger community. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! 👏💙

Today we observe Memorial Day, a solemn day of remembrance for the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. As friends and families across Montana gather for BBQs, camping, fishing, hiking, and all the great traditions our state has to offer, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember those who came before us and made the ultimate sacrifice.

As we wrap up Young Artists United 2026, we’re excited to share the awards presentation for our first-place Public Choice winner, Seneca from Warren Elementary! 🎨🏆
To celebrate, Seneca’s classmates enjoyed a pizza party, and Seneca received recognition for her incredible artwork and community support. 2nd and 3rd place winners, both from Jim Darcy Elementary received gift cards and standing ovations from their classmates.
Thank you to everyone who voted, supported these young artists, and shared photos of the billboards around town. Your encouragement helps empower the next generation of creatives in our community!

Thank you to our reps from Advocate Physical Therapy, Design Labs of Montana, CarGeeks Tire & Auto, Wild Montana, and The Rocking Tree Farm for showing up to help!

We’re wrapping up four incredible days of our month-long Spirit of Service project, and what an impact it made.
This year, we set out to serve as many elderly, disabled, and veteran members of our community as possible, and Helena truly showed up. With nearly 200 volunteers working on 18 different homes, we mowed yards, filled driveway cracks, hauled away truckloads of trash, and, most importantly, helped restore pride and comfort to our neighbors’ homes.
Thank you to every volunteer who took time out of your busy lives to help us serve Helena. Events like this remind us that strong communities don’t happen by accident, they’re built through teamwork, compassion, and people willing to show up for one another. ❤️
