A Message From Our Mayor, Auditor & Council

We believe the vast majority of people living in Heath share a number of things in common. We enjoy the services provided to us by those working for the city government, and we want and expect the City of Heath to be a “cut above” other communities – and IT IS. But in the last few years, cities throughout the state have been negatively impacted by fundi

ng cuts coming from Columbus. In short, the state government no longer wants to be as strong a partner with local governments in providing the services Ohio residents and businesses require every day. Therefore, we in Heath now are more directly responsible for the quality of our own city. Since 1988, the income tax rate in Heath has remained the same. Over those years, our city government has made cuts in personnel and operations to maintain the services we all want and need. But the costs of those services, and the costs of maintaining our city’s important infrastructure, continue to rise. On May 2, the voters of Heath are being asked to invest a little more into our community to keep it a “cut above”. For those working in Heath and earning $50,000 annually, the additional investment will be no more than $4.81 a week – only $2.40 a week if working in Newark, Columbus and many of its surrounding suburbs. And we can be sure, this investment IS FOR HEATH, and will bring about visible and positive results throughout our community for all of us.

It's Election Day!! Polls at First Baptist Heath on 30th St. are open as of right now! Today until 7:30 p.m., we can join our fellow Heath residents by voting YES on the city's ballot issue.

We can say YES to supporting the Heath Police Dept. by hiring, equipping, and putting more police officers on our streets.

We can say YES to supporting the Heath Fire Dept. by hiring a full-time fire inspector to ensure buildings open to the public are safe.

We can say YES to helping put in motion a 10-year-plan to adequately address our cracking neighborhood streets and crumbling curbs and gutters.

We can say YES to a needed investment in our community, YES to keeping Heath "a cut above" other cities, YES for our city, because this IS FOR HEATH!

Election Day is on Tuesday, May 2, with polls at First Baptist Heath on 30th St. closing at 7:30 p.m., 48 hours after this is posted. We hope you'll come out and vote YES to show your support for keeping Heath "a cut above" other communities.

There is no better example how your YES vote IS FOR HEATH, and is for an investment in our city. Our neighborhoods need to have their street infrastructures addressed, and there simply isn't the revenue today to do it. The first map shows the very limited number of streets which can be worked on, at current funding levels, over the next 10 years.

The second map shows how the city can implement it's 10-year-plan to repave neighborhood streets, replace crumbling curbs and gutters, and improve our neighborhoods throughout the city if this ballot issue is approved. With your YES vote on Tuesday, you will help ensure our neighborhoods have good streets, and will remain places where people will want to live.

Good Friday morning!

There is a lot of GREAT information on this page to help Heath voters understand the city's ballot issue and how this additional investment will be used for our community. So please ask your Facebook friends in Heath to like this page so they can become better informed as well.

Also, this weekend, we'd like you to have conversations with just a few of your neighbors. Share with them your pride in our community and how you want Heath to remain "a cut above". Encourage them to join you and vote YES on Tuesday, because this ballot issue IS FOR HEATH.
