He's a Machine
For seven years, Chef Ken Gardner has selflessly dedicated himself to serving our nation's heroes as the Executive Event Chef at the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run, a volunteer position that allows him to serve. With unwavering commitment, he pours his heart into preparing meals for our Warriors during Visiting Chef Night, lunches, and holiday parties at Walter Reed and Ft. Belvoir.
One of Chef Ken’s most remarkable contributions is his scratch-made "Home Away from Home Thanksgiving Dinner." This labor of love involves three days of tireless cooking, culminating in a heartwarming feast for over 50 Warriors and their family members. The preparation is a testament to his dedication, as he meticulously plans and executes every detail to ensure a memorable experience.
Chef Ken is here at our recent Walter Reed USO luncheon, announcing the menu to over 180 soldiers. His commitment knew no bounds, as he had cooked tirelessly the day before, spent the night at the Retreat, and rose at 4 AM to ensure everything was warm and ready for the journey to the USO. Chef Ken’s culinary talents have warmed the hearts of countless Warriors and their loved ones. We are truly fortunate to have such a compassionate and skilled individual who selflessly gives his time and energy to bring comfort and joy to those who have given so much.
