Happy Women’s Equality Day!

On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment was certified, guaranteeing American women the right to vote— the right to help choose our leaders & shape our nation’s future, and the full power of citizenship that comes with it.

The New York State Federation of Republican Women proudly traces its roots to May 1919, when Republican women first organized statewide to unite, educate, and support the Party.

More than a century later, we continue that work: empowering women, training leaders, and advancing freedom, family & responsible government.

Today we honor the victory that made our voices count — and we keep using them.

A WIN for the Dominican Sisters of Rosary Hill - For Religious Freedom - For Common Sense!

The Sisters have faced not one but two threats from Albany - and they’ve fought back on both.

First, New York’s Long-Term Care Residents’ Bill of Rights demanded the Sisters use preferred pronouns and assign rooms by gender identity in direct violation of their Catholic faith. That federal case is ongoing, with the U.S. Department of Justice now standing alongside the Sisters.

Then came a second attack. New York’s Medical Aid in Dying Ac, signed by Governor Hochul and set to take effect August 5, would have forced the Sisters to inform, counsel, and refer terminally ill patients toward assisted su***de - also against their Catholic faith. Refusal meant fines, loss of licensure, and potential jail time.

This week, a federal judge said no. Religious freedom prevailed…for now.

On April 10, 2026, the Mount Pleasant Republican Committee was among the first to publicly stand with the Sisters - writing to elected officials, raising our voices, and alerting media outlets. We are not done.

The Sisters have cared for the dying with dignity and love, free of charge, for 125 years. We will continue standing with them.

📖 Full story:

Catholic nuns sued New York over a law forcing them to recommend assisted su***de to terminally ill patients, and a federal judge blocked them having to comply while the case is pending.

The Mount Pleasant Republican Town Committee has proudly endorsed lifelong resident and accomplished public servant, Gail Nicoletti Wind, for the Republican line in the November 3, 2026 election for Town Board.

“Gail is exactly the kind of steady, experienced leader Mount Pleasant deserves on its Town Board,” said Helen Keating, Chair of the Mount Pleasant Republican Town Committee. “She has spent her career managing budgets and people under pressure, and she brings a clear, independent voice to every table she sits at. Residents can trust her judgment.”
