It was a wonderful afternoon at Delaware County’s Juneteenth Celebration at Rose Tree Park.

The program featured meaningful remarks from Delaware County Council Chair Richard Womack, Council Member Monica Taylor, Congresswoman Scanlon, State Senator Tim Kearney, and State Representative Gina Curry, reflecting on the significance of Juneteenth and the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice.

The celebration also included outstanding performances, artwork, local vendors, and delicious food, bringing the community together to honor this important day in our nation's history.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize this great event and to all who came out to celebrate, learn, and reflect. Happy Juneteenth!

Juneteenth commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States and marks the day (June 19, 1865) when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Today, Juneteenth is both a celebration of freedom and an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, recognize the resilience and contributions of African Americans, and recommit ourselves to the ongoing pursuit of equality, justice, and opportunity for all.

Here in Haverford Township, Juneteenth is meaningful because our community is strengthened by people of different backgrounds, experiences, and histories. Taking time to honor and learn from African American history helps us better understand one another, appreciate the contributions that have shaped our country and communities, and continue building a more inclusive future together.

Join us on Monday, June 22 at the Haverford Reserve Meadow for our first-ever Summer Solstice Drumming Circle! Help us welcome summer with drumming around the campfire.

All experience levels will be honored, and families are welcome, but we ask you to monitor your children at all times. Some drums will be provided, but if you can, please bring your own drums as well.

This program is made possible through a partnership between The Haverford Township Free Library and Kelly Center for Music, Arts, and Community. Special thank you to Boy Scout Troop 144 for helping with the campfire and safely exiting the Meadows.

Another great Discover Haverford Love Local Night is in the books! Brookline Blvd was buzzing with energy! The street was filled with families and friends enjoying a beautiful evening, dining and shopping at our local businesses and vendors, and enjoying great music.

🚧 Traffic Alert: Route 3 (West Chester Pike) Nighttime Construction 🚧

PennDOT has announced overnight road work next week as part of a $5.2 million project to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at the I-476 interchange in Haverford and Marple Townships.

📍 Route 3 (West Chester Pike), both directions, between the I-476 overpass and Old West Chester Pike

Drivers should expect lane closures, delays, and possible backups during construction hours and are encouraged to allow extra travel time. All work is weather dependent.

The project includes improvements to the westbound Route 3 off-ramp to northbound I-476, creating a free-flowing movement that is expected to improve traffic operations and reduce congestion in the area.

Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program helps older friends and neighbors stay in their homes while affording life’s necessities, and applications are now open. The program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities 18 or older.

Rebates range from $380 to $1,000, and the deadline for applying has been extended to Dec. 31, but residents who qualify should consider applying now!
