📢 New Firearm Industry Bill Announcement 📢

On August 7th, 2025, Connecticut passed a new law called the Firearm Industry Responsibility Act (HB 7042). This law was created with help from state officials, violence and injury prevention offices, and Connecticut Against Gun Violence (CAGV), and it was signed by Governor Ned Lamont.

The law requires firearm companies to take steps to prevent selling guns to people who should not have them and to follow existing laws. It also limits how they can advertise their products to avoid promoting illegal sales and avoid public safety risks.
If someone is harmed because of a violation, they can sue for damages, making sure firearm companies are held responsible for their products.

Hartford’s natural beauty is often overlooked—but it’s all around us. 🌿 From riverfront trails to historic parks, our green spaces are a reminder of the peace and power nature offers.

Fun Fact: The Hartford Riverfront is part of over 3 miles of connected parks and trails along the Connecticut River – linking Hartford and East Hartford with scenic views and open space for everyone to enjoy!

Studies show that spending time in nature reduces stress, supports mental health, and helps build safer, healthier communities. A healthy community is a safe community. Let’s continue to move Hartford forward—grounded in wellness.

"Progress doesn't go in a straight line. I think there are times when you take two steps forward and one step back and times when you take one step forward and two steps back...I think the good will win out. " - Barack Obama.
