💚 Thank You, Members!

Thank you for your patience and understanding during yesterday’s storm restoration efforts. At the peak, more than 3,400 members were without power across 50+ outage locations due to severe weather. ⛈️

💡 While technology allowed us to quickly restore service to many members, significant damage (including a broken three-phase pole, damaged crossarms, and downed power lines) required more extensive repairs in some areas.

Our WEC crews and contractors worked safely and efficiently throughout the evening and overnight to restore power. We’re proud of the resilience of our system, which reflects the value of our ongoing line inspection and right-of-way maintenance programs. ⚡

👏🏽 A big thank you to our employees for their dedication and to our members for always weathering the storm with us. We appreciate you!

Through our Operation Roundup Foundation and our partnership with WTVY News 4 in the Silent Heroes of the Wiregrass program, we are able to honor a hero each month in the Wiregrass area that gives back to our communities. Thank you to our members that participate in Operation Roundup. It’s because of them that we are able to give back to the communities we serve. Congratulations to Connie and Dustin Roney!

SILENT HEROES OF THE WIREGRASS: For nine years, May's Silent Hero of the Wiregrass and her husband have been working through their ministry to reach those impacted by drugs after overcoming their own addictions.

⚡️ DID YOU KNOW? ⚡️

Lineman are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even during family dinners, birthday parties, ball games, and late nights at home. When storms roll through or power goes out, they often have to drop everything at a moment’s notice to head out and restore electricity for their communities.

While most of us are taking shelter from the weather, linemen are out in the rain, heat, cold, and dark working to get the lights back on safely. 💡

So the next time you see a bucket truck rolling by, remember there’s a family at home supporting that sacrifice too. ❤️

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

As we reflect on the meaning of this holiday, please note that all Wiregrass Electric offices will be closed on Memorial Day. While our offices are closed, members can still access their accounts 24/7 by visiting wiregrass.coop.
