Health care is a human right. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

On June 5, Equality Connecticut is joining community members, advocates, labor leaders, faith organizations, and health care workers in New Haven to say: Hands Off Our Health Care.

Proposed cuts to Medicaid, the CDC, NIH, and other essential health programs would have devastating consequences for communities across Connecticut and the country. We know LGBTQ+ folks, Black and Brown communities, folks with disabilities, and low-income families often bear the greatest burden when access to care is threatened.

Join us at Amistad Park on Friday, June 5 at 6 PM for a candlelight vigil and an evening of community, art, action, and collective power. Equality Connecticut Executive Director Matthew Blinstrubas will be speaking alongside advocates and organizers calling for accountability and investment in the health and well-being of our communities.

Because our lives and our health are not negotiable.

We blessed the space in honor of our community 🏳️‍⚧️❤️🏳️‍🌈 This past weekend, our Q***r & Allied Interreligious Leaders (QAIL) joined Quiet Corner Pride in Putnam and hosted a Q***r Blessing Booth for our q***r and trans community.

The Q***r Blessing Booth is a statewide Pride initiative from Equality CT’s QAIL committee. Participating in 8 Pride events across Connecticut from May to August, this mobile space offers LGBTQ+ individuals access to affirming spiritual care, including brief blessings, grounding rituals, and supportive conversation with local faith and religious leaders. By meeting people where they are, the Q***r Blessing Booth creates opportunities for reflection, connection, and care, particularly for those navigating the intersection of q***rness and faith. The initiative offers a visible, public reimagining of spirituality as inclusive, liberatory, and rooted in love.

Thank you for having usWest Hartford Prided WeHaPrint for your support.

We hope to see you and hold space with you at Pride events throughout Connecticut this summer 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

SB295 is about protection, plain and simple. At a time when attacks on abortion and gender-affirming care are escalating nationwide, Connecticut must strengthen its shield laws to protect patients and providers.

This bill helps ensure that our state remains a safe place, not just in our values, but in our written law.

Call your State Senator today and urge them to support SB295. Your voice matters. Your call can make a difference. 📲

Trans Day of Visibility has always been about more than being visible; it’s about building a state where every trans and nonbinary person is valued, protected, safe, and free.

This past week, our community came together to celebrate trans joy, honor trans lives, uplift trans voices, and recommit ourselves to the long work ahead. In a moment when trans people are being targeted by federal attacks nationwide, showing up for one another is both powerful and necessary. We’re committed to showing up every day, at the Capitol and beyond, to fight for access to gender-affirming care, patient privacy, and autonomy for trans and nonbinary folks across our state.

To every trans person in Connecticut: We see you. We value you more than you know. You deserve to thrive. We’re fighting for you every single day.

Two days ago, we joined our community at the Connecticut State Capitol in celebration of Trans Day of Visibility. During the ceremony, we got the news that the Supreme Court voted in an 8-1 decision to uphold the rights of a therapist in Colorado to exercise conversion therapy on her clients as “protected speech”. While this ruling is a devastating blow, especially to survivors of conversion therapy in our state, we know one thing is true: LGBTQIA+ folks are not broken or wrong.

Our fight to protect the autonomy, safety, dignity, and access to care for LGBTQIA+ folks across Connecticut has never stopped. Protecting gender-affirming care in Connecticut is more important now than ever. We remain energized as our three bills have passed out of committee this legislative session.

To show up for our community right now in the face of relentless attacks from the federal government, support our legislative priorities this session. Our advocacy is local and statewide.

Contact your legislators. Advocate with us at the Capitol. Now is the time to show up.

Equality doesn’t happen accidentally or overnight. It happens through organizing, advocacy, policy, and community.

This legislative session, Equality Connecticut is fighting for policies that protect gender-affirming care, expand access to essential health services, protect patient and provider privacy, and strengthen protections for LGBTQIA+ folks across our state.

From strengthening shield laws to reducing barriers to hormone therapy, these priorities are about one thing: making sure LGBTQIA+ folks across Connecticut can live with dignity, safety, opportunity, and freedom.

Progress only happens when people show up.

Equality Connecticut has grown from a spark of an idea into a powerful policy center and community organizing hub dedicated to advancing and protecting the health and rights of LGBTQ+ people in our state. In just five years, we’ve built a vibrant network of advocates and leaders in every corner of Connecticut, strengthened partnerships across the country, and restored our state’s voice within the national LGBTQ+ movement.

This progress is only possible because of supporters like you. And today, we need you more than ever.

This GIving Tuesday, make a gift that builds power, joy and community.
