Super excited to have received these original Harrisburg postcards in the mail today. I purchased them from a dealer all the way in DELAWARE! Funny how things travel. I’m just glad they made there way back here. I will post the reverse of each card in the comments. Dated 1911, and 1917.

I just received this vintage heavy glass paper weight with a photo from Harrisburg High School inside. This is an item I found listed for sale online in Massachusetts! You never know where relics from our home town will end up. I’m just glad I was able to purchase this and bring it back here where it belongs. If anyone has any items or photos from Harrisburg, PLEASE let me know. I am compiling an archive where it will all be accessible for people looking.

If anyone recognizes the people in the photos, add it to the comments.

When I first started this page, one of my very first messages was from my buddy Vickie. She knew I needed a few of these post cards from her family farm to add to my collection. She loved to give them out to folks. I sure am glad I got mine. ❤️

It’s sad when you realize how much of our square has been lost to neglect, and fire over the years. Everytime I go through a small town with a complete square I get a little jealous.

When I moved into Dr Verser’s house earlier this year, I found this 1940s art deco phone hanging in the solarium that must have been taken from the old clinic years ago. Notice the buttons to connect to each room: Nurse’s Station, Business Office, Dr Forestier’s Office, and Dr Joe’s Office.

I read in an article a while back that when Dr Verser lived at the clinic, while the house was being built, he had a phone in his apartment that connected him to stations throughout the hospital. I’d say it’s a pretty good chance that this is it!

In 1967, a group of 3 skeletons were discovered while moving ground around Weona. An archeological dig was conducted by Dr Morse of Arkansas State University and concluded the remains and object found at the sight were aged between 500-750 BC.

This is a bit outside of Harrisburg, but still a very recognizable building for folks in the area. I pulled these photos from online. Wish I knew who had the original. I had not seen the photo of it when it was still in use until today. It always catches my eye when driving by.

The Bacon Hotel (Sunrise Hotel) 1912

Wouldn’t you like to be able to walk through it when it was operational?
