☀️ Summer camp can be an exciting, confidence-building experience for children, but it’s also important for families to be informed and prepared.

As camp season begins, taking a few proactive steps can help create safer environments and open communication with your child.

Here are a few important reminders for parents and caregivers:

✔️ Ask camps about background checks and safety policies
✔️ Teach children they can say “no” to uncomfortable situations
✔️ Keep conversations open before, during, and after camp
✔️ Watch for behavioral or emotional changes
✔️ Remind children they can always come to you for help

One of the most important protective tools is a child who feels safe speaking up, and knows they will be believed.

Prevention starts with awareness, trusted relationships, and supportive communities.

A special thank you to RAINN for creating this important resource to help families navigate summer camp safety conversations with confidence and care.

Summer camp can be one of the most exciting, confidence-building experiences of childhood. But as a parent, it’s completely natural to feel nervous about sending your child off for days—or even weeks—without you.  While most camps work hard to keep kids safe, no environment is immune to the r...

Thank you, PA State Rep. Jim Rigby and Rep. Kyle Mullins for your work in getting H.B. 2443 passed unanimously by the House.

The bill, which will create a dedicated Child Victim Recovery Fund paid for by offenders, is an important step towards filling the $14.5 million funding gap faced by Children's Advocacy Centers in Pennsylvania.

The bill now moves to the Senate, where we hope it will be taken up for consideration quickly.

Internet safety chats with your kids don't need to be complicated, as long as your children know who they can turn to when they have a question or feel uncomfortable with a situation.

These four rules keep it simple and help keep your kids safe online.

💙 Talking early helps keep kids safe online 💙

Caregivers of young children (grades K–4): regular, simple conversations about internet safety make a big difference.

Take a moment to review these 4 Internet Safety Rules from NetSmartz together:
1️⃣ Tell a trusted adult if something online feels scary, sad, or confusing.
2️⃣ Ask before sharing personal information like a name, address, or phone number.
3️⃣ Never meet in person with someone met online.
4️⃣ Be kind online—use good netiquette and don’t be rude or mean.

Kids don’t need to have all the answers. They just need to know who their trusted adults are and that they can always come to them. These conversations build confidence, trust, and lifelong safety skills for online and off.

Small talks today have big impacts tomorrow.

As summer approaches, a little tech planning can help everyone feel safer and more balanced.

With summer schedules, your family’s tech use probably looks different than it does during the school year. It's okay to match screen time to your summer pace and activities, without compromising safety or quality time.

Here are two tools to help you create rules around tech use to keep your child safe this summer:
