☀️ Summer camp can be an exciting, confidence-building experience for children, but it’s also important for families to be informed and prepared.
As camp season begins, taking a few proactive steps can help create safer environments and open communication with your child.
Here are a few important reminders for parents and caregivers:
✔️ Ask camps about background checks and safety policies
✔️ Teach children they can say “no” to uncomfortable situations
✔️ Keep conversations open before, during, and after camp
✔️ Watch for behavioral or emotional changes
✔️ Remind children they can always come to you for help
One of the most important protective tools is a child who feels safe speaking up, and knows they will be believed.
Prevention starts with awareness, trusted relationships, and supportive communities.
A special thank you to RAINN for creating this important resource to help families navigate summer camp safety conversations with confidence and care.
