By Andrea Snallacombe: Today when my plane landed in California and I took my phone out of airplane mode I was greeted with a missed call, text and Facebook message from Janis Creason - Dauphin County Treasurer, a missed call and Facebook Message from Rickee Miller with the Animal Enforcement Office and a missed call from the Berks County State Police. A dog with Eli's lifetime tag was found wandering around up in Reading. My heart sank and I immediately started to panic. Eli is staying with my mom in Oley while I travel for work. While calling the treasurers office from the plane, I text Mom "Is anyone at home with the boys??" Answer: "No." It was definitely Eli. Apparently while everyone was at work, Eli, Mr. Houdini himself managed to escape from my moms house! Lucky for me, Stephanie Mease and her wonderful family were home and saw him wandering near the very heavily traveled main road and scooped him up, brought him into their home, and did everything they could to get my baby boy home to me! I cannot thank them enough for the love that they gave to my boy until we were able to get him back!! Thank you Aunt Sandra, Uncle Carl and Aunt Vicky for hopping into your cars immediately after hearing from Mom to go get Eli, and to go to the house to check on Diego and figure out what happened while Mom made her way back from some work training. And of course to Janis Creason and Rickee Miller for their repeated efforts to get in touch with me. I don't know what I would have done if anything had happened to either of the boys today!! I can't even think about what would have happened if the Mease family hadn't seen Eli. But he is back at grandma's house safe and sound and we are going to be brainstorming ways to better safeguard the house from my Houdini dog! And I am thankful for my wonderful Mother who always so graciously takes Eli in for me when I have to travel for work!

If you don't have a tag on your dog, please get one! I'm thankful I took the steps to get Eli a lifetime tag, but I will also be getting an identification tag for him now too!!!
