🚒 AUGUST 2026 MONTHLY REPORT

Our August 2026 Monthly Report is now available, offering an inside look at your Bureau's performance.

Through August, Bureau personnel have responded to 1,369 incidents, with 359 overlapping responses, meaning approximately 26% of our calls occurred while we were already operating on another incident.

Our combination of dedicated career and volunteer firefighters continues to strengthen our ability to serve the community.

📊 2027 PUBLIC SAFETY BUDGET PRESENTATION – TODAY

We also want to remind our residents that today at 4:30 PM, the Lower Paxton Township Department of Public Safety will present its 2027 Budget Proposals to the Board of Supervisors and the public in the Township Board Room.

This presentation gives residents the opportunity to hear directly about the Department's priorities, proposed investments, and plans to continue meeting our community's growing public-safety needs.

Residents are encouraged to attend in person. If you cannot attend, the meeting will be livestreamed on YouTube.

🔥BUSY WEEK AHEAD! 🚒🧯

This coming week marks the sixth and final week of our Orientation Academy for the Bureau’s newest career firefighters!

At 0600 hours on Sunday, September 13, our A Shift will begin its first 24-hour shift, officially launching the Bureau’s permanent 24/72-hour schedule. This milestone will ensure career firefighters are always staffing the Township; 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to support and work alongside our dedicated volunteer firefighters.

Also this week, the Bureau of Fire Executive Command Staff will present our proposed 2027 budget, which includes additional staffing to further stabilize our service delivery and strengthen our combination fire protection system.

At the Bureau of Fire, we are working hard for you; developing actual measurable practical and tactical solutions that align with our long-term strategic objectives. Each step is focused on building a more reliable, sustainable, and mission-ready fire service for the residents and businesses of Lower Paxton Township.

We are proud of the progress being made and remain committed to providing our community with the exceptional fire protection it deserves.

Less than 2 weeks until our new recruits hit the streets and increase our staffing for response to your emergency!

This week has started with making effective decision making and understanding operational procedures. Today they are putting what they have learned to the test using table top exercises to run simulated incidents.

This training program is a new element of our program and will soon be rolled out to all of our members. Having educated and effective decision makers in the front seat of our apparatus is important to ensure we can effectively solve your emergency and keeping all of our members safe.

🚒 Paxtonia Open House — Save the Date! 🚒

We’re excited to invite our community to join us for the Paxtonia Fire Company Open House on Saturday, October 3rd from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM at 125 S. Johnson Street, Harrisburg, PA 17112!

Bring the whole family out for a fun day at the firehouse. Tour the station and our apparatus, meet your local firefighters, check out apparel for sale, enter raffles for some great prizes, and enjoy plenty of activities for the kids.

This is a great opportunity to see where we train, learn more about what we do, and spend some time with the volunteers who serve our community.

This weekend, members of the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire joined our partners from the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police and the Harrisburg Area Police Athletic League to help celebrate a very special third birthday for Donnie!

Events like this are a wonderful reminder that public safety is about much more than responding to emergencies, it is about building relationships, creating positive memories, and being present for the people we serve.

Community is what this is all about, and we were honored to be part of Donnie’s special day. Happy birthday, Donnie! We hope all your birthday wishes come true! 🚒🚓🎂💙

Morning Truck Checks 💪

Strong public safety starts with strong community partnerships and the support of leaders who take an active interest in the work being done.

We recently welcomed Lower Paxton Township Supervisor Robin Lindsey, the Board of Supervisors’ liaison to Public Safety, to the HACC Fire Training Facility. Supervisor Lindsey observed our 12 newest career firefighters as they completed ladder training during the Bureau’s Career Firefighter Academy.

We are grateful for the continued support from all of the Board of Supervisors past and present and their commitment to understanding the training, resources, and personnel necessary to provide exceptional fire protection to our community. Their investment in the Bureau’s mission is helping us build a stronger, more capable, and sustainable fire service for Lower Paxton Township.

The Bureau of Fire family grew a little bigger this morning!

Senior Chauffeur Tom Hartley’s granddaughter, Charlotte, made an unexpectedly early arrival at 5:30 a.m., weighing 5 pounds, 7 ounces.

We’re happy to share that Charlotte and her mom, Annie who is also a member of the Bureau at our Linglestown Fire Company No. 1 - Station 35 are both doing great!

Please join us in congratulating Annie, Tom, and the entire Hartley family on their beautiful new addition! Welcome to the family, Charlotte! 💕

Supporting Young Entrepreneurs 💪

Today our crew on Engine 35 (Linglestown) was out for area familiarization and found a local lemonade stand on Larue St. so they stopped for a refreshing glass of cold Lemonade 🍋.

Today, our new recruits spent the day learning about a less common but very important skill. With many of our commercial, healthcare, and apartment buildings having elevators, it is important we know how to handle the mechanical aspect of them. Learning how to properly secure and open elevators is not for the novice.

When you get stuck in an elevator, we ensure our members will be there and prepared to get you out safely and quickly.
