💧 Attention - Hydrant Flushing Continues 💦

Veolia will continue conducting routine fire hydrant flushing next week as part of their annual maintenance program.

Flushing in the attached area will begin on Monday, June 8 and continue through Friday, June 12. Flushing will take place in between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

While the flushing is focused around the areas in the attached map all residents should be aware, as you may still be impacted by the process.

What to Expect:

- You may experience temporary water discoloration or reduced water pressure during flushing activities. Flushing will take place between 7 am to 5 pm. each day.

- If discoloration occurs, please run your cold water tap until it runs clear before use.

- Avoid doing laundry during flushing hours to prevent staining.

Why Do They Flush:

- Remove Sediment and Deposits: Over time, naturally occurring minerals, rust, and sediment accumulate in water pipes. Flushing removes these materials that settle at the bottom of the pipes, preventing buildup that could affect water quality.

- Maintain Water Quality: Flushing helps ensure fresh water circulates throughout the entire distribution system.

- Test System Performance: The process allows Veolia to verify that hydrants are functioning properly, check water pressure levels, and identify any issues with valves or the distribution system.

- Ensure Fire Protection: Flushing confirms that hydrants are operational and can deliver adequate water flow and pressure needed for firefighting purposes in emergencies.

Regular hydrant flushing is a proactive maintenance practice that protects public health and ensures the water distribution system operates efficiently and reliably.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as Veolia works to maintain the quality and reliability of your water service. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact their customer service team at 888-299-8972.

🚨 Commercial Structure Fire 🔥

Last evening at 22:11 hrs, units were dispatched for a Commercial Structure Fire at Roberto’s Pizza on Jonestown Road in Lower Paxton Township.

Engine 32 from Progress Fire 32 arrived to find smoke showing from the single-story strip shopping center. Initial crews made entry into the pizza shop and located a fire in the kitchen area. Due to the quick actions of responding crews, the fire was rapidly contained to the area of origin, preventing further extension throughout the building.

The incident was scaled back to Lower Paxton Township and Susquehanna Township units after approximately 40 minutes.

Chief 33 (Fogg) held Command of the incident.

We would like to thank all responding agencies for their assistance and professionalism throughout the operation.

In April of 2025, the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire responded to an early morning fire at the Color Bar Salon in our community. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the incident served as an important reminder of how quickly fire can impact a small business and the importance of prevention, early detection, and proper insurance coverage.

Today, Chief Graham had the opportunity to speak at the Color Bar alongside Commissioner Thomas Cook from the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner, Commissioner Michael Humphreys of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, owner Nicole Raptapolus of the Color Bar Beauty Salon, and Andy Enders of Enders as part of a Small Business Month press event focused on fire safety and insurance protection for businesses across the Commonwealth.

We appreciate the opportunity to help educate business owners on simple but critical fire safety practices that can protect lives, property, and livelihoods.

Thank you to all of the partners involved for helping bring awareness to this important topic. 🚒🔥
