Dodged the rain drops to attend the Hanover High School Graduation Ceremony last night. What a special evening — it was exciting to see all the potential of the Class of 2026 on display. I wish all the recent graduates all the best as they begin a new chapter in their lives. Our students represent our future and based on this class, our future is bright!

I also wanted to acknowledge the great job by all the HHS staff, by Superintendent Ferron and Principal Plummer, and by the DPW staff. The program, the set-up, and the grounds were first-class. Many hours of preparation go into these special events and it certainly paid off.

Lastly, a shout out to Steve Ryerson for his photography, video, and drone support to capture the graduation ceremony and to the HPD detail who kept things safe and traffic moving.

Feeling honored to help out with the flag replacements at the historic Hanover Cemetery this morning along with many other volunteers including Veterans and our high school students. I think the age span of volunteers was about 10 to 85; what a fantastic cross-generational service project for our community.

It was reflective to think of the many sacrifices our Veterans — from the American Revolution to our most recent conflicts — have made to keep our country safe and free. Great job by our VSO and American Legion Post to organize and support this Memorial Day weekend event.

I also wanted to give a shout out to the DPW staff. I was able to meet a few of the team members and they were hard at work. The grounds look great and it is impressive to see the pride and personal care the Hanover Grounds Crew puts into their work at the cemetery.

And, don’t forget the parade on Monday morning!

I’ve been picking up lawn signs this afternoon. A big thanks to Hanley Scott for picking up a bunch of signs for everyone yesterday, which made for quick work today. However, I still have 6-7 signs to pickup tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone who allowed me to place a “Hoyes for Select Board” lawn sign this election season. Now everyone can get back to mowing their lawns without moving signs around :)

I am filled with gratitude and appreciation today based on yesterday’s election results. Thank you for the support and confidence in me. I will work hard to fulfill my campaign commitments and focus on Hanover, Hanover and Hanover. Although much has been done, there is still so much work to do to make our town better, stronger, and more unified.

I want to thank all the candidate for running very professional campaigns focused on issues. I am excited to join Vanessa, Greg, Steve and Rachel on the Hanover Select Board. While doubtful we will agree on all the issues, I am confident we will work very professionally together, respect each other’s positions, and ensure options are fully explored. Time to roll up sleeves and get things done.

Congratulations to all the election winners and also to those who came up short. Participation in government is critical. It take a lot of time, resources and commitment to run for office. I really admire anyone who steps up for a run for office, so I say a specific “thank you” to Hanley and Vi.

As I begin my term on the Select Board, you can reach me at [email protected].
