⛈️ Market Cancellation 🌡️

After watching the forecast and considering the heat advisory, chance of severe weather, and expected high winds, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel today’s market out of an abundance of caution.

With the older trees around the market area, we want to prioritize the safety of our vendors, shoppers, team, and community. We’ve also had several vendors let us know they are no longer comfortable attending today, which we completely understand.

We know cancellations are disappointing, but safety has to come first. Please stay safe, stay cool, and we’ll see you next week for our very first Third Thursday market of the season!

Next week, we’ll have a full evening of food, art, culture, and community. Chef Blāque and Chef Darrick Tucker Jr. will return for another live cooking demo, we’ll launch our first Art Walk around Downtown Hammond, offer a free Curious Chefs kids’ activity with a $2 produce voucher for all kids, and celebrate Juneteenth with activities rooted in Black history, creativity, and community.

We can’t wait to see you there ✌️

We're SO excited to officially kick off Hammond's Third Thursday Art Walk as part of Farmed & Forged this season!

Beginning June 18, the Art Walk will take place alongside the market each Third Thursday from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM and will highlight the incredible artists, businesses, organizations, and creative spaces that make Downtown Hammond unique.

At the market, we will have:
Cooking Demo with Chef Blāque Shelton and Chef Darrick Tucker
Interactive art stations throughout the market.
Open mic with local artist, Kwiacian (the goal is to encourage people to also go to Paul Henry's Open Mic that kicks off right as our market ends).
There are several ways to participate. Artists can showcase and sell their work, create live art, offer demonstrations, performances, or other interactive experiences. Businesses and organizations can host an artist, showcase existing artwork, offer a special promotion, demonstration, activity, refreshments, or serve as a featured stop along the Art Walk route.

Artists may be paired with a participating business, participate within the Farmed & Forged market area, or arrange their own host location.

To participate, please complete the registration form as soon as possible (scroll toward the bottom of the page for the Art Walk Form).

Because we're launching the first Art Walk next week, we are working on an accelerated timeline for June. To be included in the June 18 Art Walk map, website listings, and promotional materials, all applications, required information and payments (if applicable) must be submitted no later than Friday, June 12.

Applications are available below:
https://www.thecollectivein.com/hammond-market

Future Art Walks will have longer lead times, so this initial deadline is simply to help us get everything organized and promoted properly for launch.

We're excited for the opportunity to showcase how amazing Downtown Hammond is, help create more connections between local businesses and artists, and encourage more people to explore downtown!
