📣 **Jackson Township — The Dauphin County Planning Commission wants to Hear From YOU!**

Think you’ve got a better idea? See something that could use a little improvement? Have a suggestion that’s been bouncing around in your head for months? **Here’s your chance to put it on the table!**

The Dauphin County Planning Commission is opening the phone lines/virtual meeting to the public to listen & talk about **what’s working, what’s not, and what could be better.**

And yes… **this includes all you keyboard warriors!** 😂 Instead of typing your thoughts into the void (or posting them where nobody who can actually do anything will see them 😉), come share them with the people who are actually asking.

There’s even a questionnaire you can complete **ahead of time** and submit prior to the call! (The email address is at the bottom of the questionaire)

💡 **Good ideas welcome. Constructive criticism encouraged. Solutions especially appreciated.**

Join in and let your voice—and your ideas—be heard!

You're not gonna want to miss this one!

Do you want to sit and pet a Highland Cow? Would you like to have your picture taken with a Highland Cow?

Well, now you can have that opportunity at our summer concert series event on Friday, August 28th, 2026. Starting around 7:00 pm that night, a local farm will be present with one of their Highland cows that you can pet and take a picture with for just $5.00 per picture. The local farm is donating a portion of each picture sold to the fire company, so come on out that night to get your picture taken with a Highland Cow.

The Highland cow pictured is NOT the actual Highland Cow that will be there, but is used as a reference photo.

📚🚦 HEY DRIVERS… CLASS IS IN SESSION! 🚦📚
The yellow buses are back, little feet are crossing the roads, and our morning commute is about to get a whole lot more interesting! 😄
As everyone settles back into the school-year routine, let’s all remember:
🚌 A school bus stopped? You stop.
🚸 Kids nearby? Slow it down.
📱 Phone in your hand? Put it away.
👀 Crosswalk ahead? Keep your eyes open.
⏰ Running late? That’s not a reason to speed!
Our students don’t always look both ways, move quickly, or make predictable decisions. That’s why we have to be the adults who do.
Give yourself a few extra minutes, be patient with buses and parents, and keep an extra watchful eye out for our youngest travelers.
Because the most important thing happening on our roads this fall isn't getting somewhere on time—it's making sure everyone gets there safely. ❤️
🎒 Welcome back, students! Have a safe and successful school year! 🍎

Code Purple

DEP has upgraded Friday’s forecast to a STATEWIDE Air Quality Alert Code Purple for fine particulate matter concentrations.

The Department is issuing a STATEWIDE CODE PURPLE Air Quality Alert (AQA) for Friday for fine particulate matter (PM2.5). Wildfire smoke continues to impact Pennsylvania from Ontario, Canada and Minnesota, significantly deteriorating the air quality across Commonwealth. The flow continues from the northwest this Thursday afternoon, but is expected to eventually move out of the area on Saturday. Substantial concentrations of PM2.5 will be seen, including at least some locations seeing hourly values in the hazardous range. For the northeastern counties, there is a potential that PM2.5 levels are lower than Code Purple, but we are being proactively cautious as this relates to public health. Please note that the PM2.5 health-based standard is based on a 24‑hour average, where individual hours will have concentrations higher (and lower) than the forecast. We forecast PM2.5 using this 24‑hour framework to help the public understand when overall daily air quality may reach unhealthy levels to sensitive groups (USG – Code Orange), unhealthy for all (Code Red), very unhealthy (Code Purple) and hazardous (Code Maroon) and to guide actions that reduce exposure. DEP will monitor the ongoing smoke conditions.
