Since 1946, the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association (MFCA) has served as the organization representing volunteer, and career Chief Officers throughout Maryland. The MFCA is a professional association that specializes in promoting and supporting excellence in fire and emergency services management. The MFCA helps members maintain and develop their management and leadership skills. The organization cultivates a closer fellowship between several departments and ranks of the fire and emergency services throughout the State of Maryland. The MFCA is committed to advancing the profession of fire and emergency services through proactive leadership, education and advocacy.
The vision of the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association (MFCA) is to assist Chief Officers and aspiring Chief Officers across the State of Maryland in their efforts to protect all of Maryland’s life and property from fire and other disasters. It is a dynamic organization, characterized by professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity, trustworthiness and proactive leadership. MFCA strives to build strategic alliances, mentor aspiring leaders and advance the safety of all fire and emergency services personnel through training and continuing education.

As the leading organization for Chief Officers, MFCA specializes in promoting and supporting leadership excellence in fire and emergency services management while advocating for legislation and regulations that enhance the ability of fire and emergency service professionals to protect and preserve the communities they serve.

Every member shall with due deliberation, live according to ethical principles consistent with professional conduct and shall maintain the highest standards of personal integrity; be honest and straight forward in dealings with others and avoid conflicts of interest; place the public’s safety and welfare and the safety of members above all other concerns; be supportive of training and education; be mindful of the needs of peers and subordinates and assist them freely in developing their skills, abilities, and talents to the fullest extent; and foster creativity and be open to consistent innovations that may better enable the performance of our duties and responsibilities.
