Annual Memorial Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament is a our family's way of keeping Kale's memory alive by recognizing special young men and women who have overcome life's hardships. A broken bone in the Homecoming football game was the only way we found this horrible disease. He literally went from the playing field to the children's cancer ward the same night. Our family is very proud of how
Kale handled the difficulties dealt to him and how he began his journey with his head held high. He taught many of us how to live life. He insisted that his treatments and bone marrow transplants be scheduled around graduation. Kale entered the hospital for the last time four days after graduating from Guthrie High School in May of 2006. Kale died at the age of 18 on July 6, 2006. Our family's passion for keeping Kale'e memory alive is the drive behind this foundation and this tournament as our fund raiser. With your support, we will be able to continue to recognize special young men and women who have shown Mental Toughness and have given Xtra Effort to accomplish their goals in life. Those individuals, who understand, like Kale did, what it means to "Live for the moment, not tomorrow, or next week. This scholarship is open to any Guthrie Public School District High School Senior who plans on attending any college or trade school. This is NOT an academic based scholarship. This scholarship is based on life experiences. It is for the student who has overcome hardships, whether that be injuries, a medical diagnosis, or life's hard knocks.
