COMPASSION IN ACTION 🫶🏻
Progress Grove City and PGC Kindness Crew are teaming up with Heer to Serve to put compassion into action and we’re asking our community to help us show up in a big way.
On Sunday, September 27 we’ll gather for our monthly PGC meeting from 2–4 PM at the Arrowhead Shelter at Scioto Grove Metro Park. Afterward, we’ll head to the Heer to Serve camp to serve a hot dinner and spend time with our unsheltered neighbors.
We’ll be serving spaghetti & meatballs, chicken Alfredo, salad and dessert. There are so many ways to be part of making this happen.
🫶🏻 Help prepare the meal
We’re looking for volunteers willing to prepare different portions of dinner. Whether you can make a pan of spaghetti, Alfredo, salad, dessert or help with another part of the meal, we can put you to work!
✨ Come serve with us
We need volunteers to come to the camp after the meeting to help serve dinner but we also hope you’ll stay awhile. Sit down. Talk. Listen. Laugh. Get to know the people we’re serving. Community is about more than handing someone a plate and leaving.
💕 Help stock Heer to Serve
As the colder months approach, the need for supplies is growing. We’re collecting hygiene products, ready-to-consume foods and items from Heer to Serve’s most-needed list.
One of the BEST ways to help is by ordering directly from their Amazon Wishlist. Items can be shipped directly to Emily at Heer to Serve, making it incredibly easy to get supplies where they’re needed.
You can find the Amazon Wishlist and Heer to Serve’s monetary donation options here:

🙌🏻 You can also donate financially
Monetary donations can help us purchase ingredients and supplies for dinner or help purchase needed items for the camp. Even a few dollars pooled together can become a meal, hygiene supplies, food for later, or something else someone genuinely needs.
If you prefer to shop yourself, physical donations can be dropped off with Karen Church or myself before the event, or brought to the PGC meeting on September 27. Message to coordinate.
This is what community care looks like. Sometimes we have money to give. Sometimes we have an extra box of granola bars or shampoo. Sometimes what we have is a couple of hours, a pan of food, or a willingness to sit beside another human being and listen.
You don’t have to have a lot to have something to give. And none of us can do everything, but together we can do a whole lot 🫶🏻
As colder weather comes, the needs will only grow. Let’s make sure our unsheltered neighbors know their community hasn’t forgotten them.

Community isn’t something we talk about. It’s something we build. One meal, one donation, one conversation, one person showing up for another. Can’t wait to serve our community together 💙🫶🏻
