Grinnell College Joins Middle School Career Fair to Inspire Future Pathways

On Tuesday, April 22, Grinnell College staff participated in the Grinnell Middle School Career Fair, an event organized in alignment with the State of Iowa’s Career Planning and Pathways requirements. Through the Grinnell Education Partnership (GEP), the College helped build capacity for this important opportunity, connecting 7th and 8th grade students with potential career paths. A total of 22 booths showcased a variety of professions, including three hosted by Grinnell College representatives. Coach Dana Harrold and Coach Kirsten Koester represented the Department of Athletics, Chef Scott Turley and Amber Lacina (both pictured) shared insights from Culinary Services, and Professors Paul Hutchison and Roger Henderson represented the Department of Education. The College is proud to support career exploration and strengthen connections between campus and community.

NOW ACCEPTING 2025 AmeriCorps GEP SUMMER APPLICATIONS!

Apply today to join the GEP Summer Collaborative AmeriCorps Team!

Applications are now available for 13 AmeriCorps member positions. AmeriCorps members will work directly with youth by leading activities focused on literacy, play, art, and provide individual, small group, and large group learning opportunities. Responsibilities include supervising, monitoring, and ensuring the safety of the youth within the programs.

The Grinnell Education Partnership (GEP) serves as the coordinator for five summer programs:

Drake Community Library
Grinnell College Museum of Art
Grinnell Community Early Learning Center’s Grinnell Area Summer Camp
LINK: Lead. Inspire. Nurture. Keep.
Grinnell-Newburg School District's Summer Learning is Cool for Kids (SLICK)

Summer Service Details:
Living Allowance $4,500.00
Education Award: $1,565
Start Date: May 26
End Date: August 2

Applications will be accepted January 21, 2025, through March 9, 2025.
Interviews are scheduled to begin in late March.

The summer collaborative service term begins Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and continues until Saturday, August 2. Anticipated service hours will equate to 35-40 hours per week with varied hours to meet program needs.
