HEATHER BLINE CANDIDATE FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT 58 (REPUBLICAN)
BIOGRAPHY
Heather Bline grew up in Greenwood, Indiana. She has lived a more unconventional life compared to other candidates with a political background. She became a mother at the young age of 18, and a few years later her son’s father passed away leaving her to be a single mother at 22. She knew immediately; if she was going to give her son a decent life, she would need a stable career. Over the next six years, she worked full time, attended college full time, volunteered for school functions, helped coach many of her son’s baseball and basketball teams, and volunteered at her local church. She graduated from IUPUI in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice – Cum Laude. The challenges and obstacles she overcame during this time in her life strengthened her work ethic, will power, dedication, and determination.
The degree she earned helped her land that stable career she so desired. She is a legal assistant for the Cincinnati Insurance Company’s legal division. She applied her strong character traits to advance at a much faster pace than average. Within three years, she was promoted to a Legal Assistant III, a title that typically requires ten years of experience.
Bline’s interest in government, law, and politics dates back as far as five years old. This coupled with her passion to help others is why she chose to seek a criminal justice degree. Despite her busy schedule, she always found a way to keep up with current events in her community, state, and country.
Her son recently started college leaving her with too much extra time her hands. She started looking for a second job to occupy that time but had not found anything of interest. That is until, she heard our current State Representative of the 58th district, Mr. Burton, was not seeking re-election. She felt this was God blessing her with an opportunity to do something amazing.
The next day, she started researching, scheduling meetings, and classes to better prepare herself. For weeks, she went back and forth on whether or not this was the right time for her to run for an elected position. Then she was reminded yet again on how short life is and that none of us are promised tomorrow. She patently waited until she received the final results that her father’s long battle with lymphoma was over. The experimental treatment had worked, and he was cancer free. God is good, she knew then it was time, her time.
Over the last month, many individuals she has great respect for expressed the need to raise tens of thousands of dollars to be competitive in this election. She figured why change up now, unconventional has worked for everything else she has accomplished. Instead of focusing her time to raise tens of thousands of dollars she plans to focus her time over the next few months building a rapport with as many constituents in this district as possible.
Her job as a State Representative will be to listen to your thoughts, concerns, and proposed suggestions and/or solutions to community issues. This will allow her to best represent the communities interest when she can review, revise, and help create legislation for our community and the rest of the state. It is no secret that our country is divided, she will work to bridge that divide one community at a time.
Help Ms. Bline set a new standard to elect people who are just like many of us!
One last thing, some of you may see her name on your ballot twice. She also filed to be a State Convention Delegate. You may select her name in both spots, as she is allowed to do both.
