Meet the Candidate: Brad A. Meyer for Indiana’s 9th Congressional District

Brad A. Meyer is running for Congress in Indiana’s 9th Congressional District, which includes communities across southeast Indiana.

So, what does a U.S. Representative do? Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms representing their districts in Washington. They introduce and vote on federal legislation, serve on congressional committees, work on the federal budget, and advocate for the interests of the people they represent.

Meyer is a seventh-generation Hoosier with a background in engineering, manufacturing, and public service. After growing up in Brownsburg and attending Purdue University, he spent 25 years working in Indiana manufacturing, including management roles that gave him experience from both the employee and business perspectives.

In 2010, Meyer and his family moved to Bloomington to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane. He later spent nine years as a Navy civilian engineer working in electromagnetic warfare, helping develop technology designed to protect U.S. sailors from missile threats.

Meyer says his military-related work and oath to defend the Constitution shaped his decision to run for Congress. His campaign focuses on strengthening communities, expanding access to healthcare, supporting decent wages and affordability, and protecting constitutional principles.

“We can build a future that is better than today, with Universal Health Care, decent wages, an affordable life, and a return to the Constitution.”

Meet the Candidate: Coumba Kebe for Indiana State Treasurer

Coumba Kebe is an entrepreneur, healthcare leader, and small-business owner running for Indiana State Treasurer.

So, what does the State Treasurer do? The Treasurer serves as the state’s chief financial officer and is responsible for managing Indiana’s investments, overseeing the state’s banking and financial operations, and serving as a member of the State Board of Finance. The office also plays a role in managing programs and funds that affect Hoosiers across the state.

Kebe says her experience leading healthcare teams and running businesses has shown her firsthand how government decisions affect families, seniors, local communities, and small businesses.

Her campaign is centered on a simple question: Are Indiana’s financial resources being used in ways that benefit Hoosiers?

Kebe points to Indiana’s large state reserves while schools, municipalities, and families continue to face financial pressures. She says the state should focus on responsible financial management while making sure communities and everyday Hoosiers aren’t overlooked.

As a candidate for Treasurer, Kebe says she wants to bring a stronger focus on accountability, responsible stewardship, and putting people first in decisions about Indiana’s finances.

Absolutely ghoulish what is happening in Indiana with the Medicaid waiver program and FSSA.

This WTHR segment should make every Hoosier angry. Behind all the bureaucratic language, budget decisions and excuses are real people—some of our state’s most vulnerable citizens—and families who are simply trying to care for them.

Indiana leaders love to talk about fiscal responsibility, but balancing the books on the backs of disabled Hoosiers and their caregivers isn’t fiscal responsibility. It’s a failure of priorities.

We can—and should—expect better from our state government. Remember this in November when you vote!

Families and advocates of people with disabilities report a complicated appeal process as they fight a recent increase in Medicaid waiver denials, cuts to services.

Meet the Candidate: Jessica Bailey for Indiana State Comptroller,

Jessica Bailey is running for Indiana State Comptroller, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and making sure Indiana’s money works for Hoosier communities.

So, what does the State Comptroller do? The office is responsible for accounting for state funds, making payments to state employees and vendors, distributing certain state funds to local governments, and maintaining Indiana’s Transparency Portal, where the public can see information about state spending. The Comptroller also serves on the three-member State Board of Finance, which helps oversee the state’s fiscal affairs and can approve transfers between state funds.

Bailey brings local government experience to the race. A two-term Porter County Clerk, she previously served on the Portage Township School Board. During her time as clerk, she was named Clerk of the Year by the Association of Indiana Counties in 2023, and her office received national recognition for election administration.

Now, Bailey says she wants to bring that same attention to detail and accountability to the state level.

Her priorities include:

🔎 More transparency — making state financial information easier for Hoosiers to find and understand.

💰 Accountability for every dollar — ensuring state funds are properly tracked and distributed on time.

🏛️ Independent oversight — using her seat on the State Board of Finance to ask questions, review documentation, and provide greater scrutiny of financial decisions.

🏘️ Putting communities first — making sure schools, counties, cities, and towns receive the state funding they depend on.

For Bailey, the message is simple: Indiana’s money should serve Indiana communities, and Hoosiers deserve to know where their tax dollars are going.

Indiana spent an estimated $8.2 billion in tax incentives, subsidies, and breaks for the Amazon Data Services project in New Carlisle - the biggest known tax incentive package in the country for a single data center project.

Think about how those tax dollars could be spent on our public schools, roads, and healthcare. Instead, your money is going into the pockets of Big Tech billionaires who don't care about the impact of their data centers on your electricity bills.

Earlier this year, we offered an amendment to prohibit the state from handing out sales tax breaks to data centers. House Republicans voted no (we'll share the vote sheet breakdown for that in the comments).

During the upcoming 2027 session, we must pass legislation to rein in these outrageous taxpayer giveaways to companies that simply do not need them.

Meet the Candidate: Beau Bayh for Indiana Secretary of State

Beau Bayh is a seventh-generation Hoosier, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, attorney, and candidate for Indiana Secretary of State.

So, what does the Secretary of State do? The office oversees Indiana’s elections and voter registration, manages business and securities filings, and handles several important responsibilities that help keep Indiana’s government and economy running. The Secretary of State also serves as Indiana’s Chief Election Officer.

Beau’s background is rooted in public service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Infantry Officer, rising to the rank of Captain. His military service took him around the world, including Europe, where he supported U.S. and NATO operations following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He also trained allied military forces in South America.

After being honorably discharged in 2023, Beau earned his law degree from Harvard Law School. He previously earned a degree in Government from Harvard University, where he was a Division I athlete and served on the Undergraduate Honor Council. He later served as a Judicial Law Clerk for Judge David F. Hamilton on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Bayh says he wants to bring the leadership, integrity, and transparency he learned in the Marines to the Secretary of State’s office. His campaign focuses on protecting Hoosier voters, addressing what he describes as corruption and wasteful spending, protecting taxpayers, and working across party lines to improve state government.

His message: Public service should mean serving the public — not a political party or yourself.
