The High Point Police Department is sharing a photo of a car involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a five-year-old boy on Friday. Investigators with the Traffic Unit are working to identify the driver and the car.
Investigators have narrowed the vehicle description to a gray Ford Focus, believed to be from model years 2015-2018. Anyone with information is asked to call the High Point Police Department at 336-883-3224 or contact Crimestoppers of High Point by downloading the P3 Tips app or calling 336-889-4000.
Officers responded to the intersection of E. Russell Avenue and Hines Street around 5 p.m. on Friday. They found a five-year-old boy who had been hit by a car. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

UPDATE (June 10, 2026) - Officers with the High Point Police Departmentโs Traffic Unit arrested and charged a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a five-year-old boy last week.
Officers arrested Jeremiah J. Benton (B/M, 25 of Winston-Salem) this morning at a home in Winston-Salem. He is charged with felony hit and run causing serious injury or death. He is currently in the Guilford County Jail (High Point). His bond is set at $1 million secured.
