The doors will be open.

During the 2026 Hand to Hand Market, I’ll be opening up the Bibliopathologist studio for a two day open house inside One Rep Weightlifting, where the bindery now lives and works.

Swing by, step into the space, and see what goes into the making of books, archival enclosures, and the quiet craft behind them. I’ll be at the bench working throughout the day, so you can catch projects in progress, ask questions, or just take it all in.

There will be light refreshments, a few small giveaways, and plenty to look at.

If you’ve ever been curious about what happens inside a bindery, this is your invitation.

Tonight’s workbench looks a little different.

After a long stretch of setting up the new bindery space, shelves, benches, tools finding their places, I needed to step away and put my hands on something slower. So tonight it’s bricks instead of boards, plastic instead of paper, Gandalf locked in eternal argument with a Balrog on the Bridge of Khazad-Dûm.

There’s something grounding about this kind of making. Follow the steps. Trust the process. Let your mind quiet while your hands stay busy. No deadlines, no invoices, no square corners to fuss over. Just a wizard, a demon, and the comfort of knowing exactly where the next piece goes.

Weekends are for remembering why making things matters in the first place. Sometimes that means books. Sometimes it means LEGO. Both get you where you need to be.

Back to the bindery tomorrow. Tonight, you shall not pass, stress included.

A little something different on the bench this time.

Two paperbacks, now given sturdier lives, both romances, both an absolute blast to work on. Beefcakes by Katana Collins and The Blossoming of a Nightingale by Sharon Brindley Katana. Bound in vegan leather, with marbled paper on the boards, colors pulled directly from the original paperback covers so everything still speaks the same visual language. Those covers - illustrated by the ever brilliant Sean Gordon Murphy - set a high bar and made the color matching especially satisfying.

These were done for a colleague who also happens to be related to the authors, which added an extra layer of care and fun to the process. And yes, this officially marks the first romance novels I have ever rebound, a new square checked on the ever growing list.

More proof that good stories deserve good clothes, no matter the genre.

Dispatch from the bindery.

If you’re on my mailing list, you’re probably already aware that new commissions and orders are temporarily paused while I work through the current backlog and finalize the design of a forthcoming membership program.

Additionally, over the holiday break I was busy packing, hauling, and moving the Bibliopathologist bindery into a new, larger space, trading festive downtime for dollies, dust, and a truly unreasonable number of boxes.

Several workbenches are now assembled, shelving is installed, and I’m in the thick of unpacking the many, many tools, presses, rolls of material, and half-finished ideas that make this work possible. This move is part of bringing the backlog to heel and building a workflow that supports careful, deliberate craftsmanship without cutting corners.

Orders will reopen once the current queue is under control and the next phase of the bindery is ready. Until then, thank you for the patience, trust, and support that allow me to do this work the right way.

I am so incredibly touched by this.

Jeff Terry just shared a nearly 10-minute video on his YouTube channel talking about his copy of IT by Stephen King - its history, what it’s meant to him over the years, and his experience seeing it reborn. I’m deeply grateful for the time, care, and generosity he put into sharing that story.

Jeff, it was truly a pleasure and an honor to work on this book for you. IT holds a huge amount of meaning for me as well - I first read it as a young teenager, and it left a mark that’s never really faded. Being trusted to help carry that same book forward for someone else is exactly why I do this work.
