No different for Wisconsin.

No different for Wisconsin.

Studies have shown that voucher programs benefit the wealthy, not working families. In states that have vouchers, the majority of students who use them already attended private schools before receiving them. Rather than creating opportunity or “choice”, these programs subsidize tuition for families who can already afford private schools.

Michigan's Constitution prohibits public funds for private schools. That's for a reason! Michiganders rejected vouchers in 1978 and 2000. Our communities have made it clear: we believe that public dollars belong in public schools. Trump and Devos' current voucher scheme puts all of this at risk.

Tell Governor Whitmer to reject this federal voucher scheme and protect accessible education: https://actionnetwork.org/events/opt-out-michigan-no-vouchers-public-information-session/

How the failed school funding and tax-cut deal really affects public education.

Wisconsin public schools are suffering from years of underfunding; a failed deal shows exactly what is wrong

Hold your applause on that budget deal.

Giving you $300 might buy a couple tanks of gas, but it keeps our schools running on empty.

The devil is in the details and the details are not good - putting in more "aid," but not letting districts spend more money means none of those dollars get to kids. And the increase to special education funding is good (great even!), but because it isn't sum sufficient it's not guaranteed.

This deal won't close our gaps, and it won't decrease the need to go to referenda to fund our schools. It squanderers our surplus without meeting our needs.

This is election year theater.
What we need is less acting, real action.

There's time to make this deal better. Let's fix this for Wisconsin kids.

Tell lawmakers: lose the gimmicks & giveaways and use the money Wisconsin has now to meet the needs Wisconsin kids have now.

Here’s the thing about the explosive growth of taxpayer-funded vouchers for families to send their kids to private schools in Wisconsin: You’ve never been asked if you want to fund something with a price tag approaching $1 billion a year. Do you think there needs to be a constitutional amendment referendum on funding two parallel school systems in Wisconsin?
