Hello Dan,
This is Susie Cunningham reaching out to say congratulations on winning your seat on the Eagle County School Board. I wish you the best and pray you will work hard to improve our school district’s abysmal academics. I feel passionately that our current board has failed our county academically and only a dishonest person would disagree. You have a large task ahead of you. I hope you treat this job with your total dedication, a difficult job for someone in your position. However, I need to believe as a fellow Christian you signed up for this knowing you have a responsibility that should be heavy on your shoulders. I will be looking for you to aim for improvement in academics first as this is the number one Statutory Responsibility of the board. I want to believe you will do the right thing and will be praying for your guidance. All my best.

The board wanted the Healthy KIDS survey, due to the rise of mental illness in the state.
REALLY????????? Hmmmm this is a survey that could have been sent to homes to discuss with families. Furthermore, these surveys have been sent out for YEARS. My kids took them, even though they were “Opted Out” and they thought they were ridiculous and a waste of time.
More on this decision process later. I have word from our Senator but I’m now waiting for a response from Eagle County School Board... seems like they are taking a little too long to answer my questions.

Did you know I was a MINORITY? Female yes, Hispanic yes. Well looking at me of course you know I’m female but you wouldn’t know I’m Mexican. So assumptions will be made and I’ll be categorized one way or another. Hmmm I have a problem with this because decisions are being made based on the way I “look”. How often do you think this is happening in our education system ... ALL THE TIME! This race theory is so antiquated because a large proportion of Society is biracial and multiracial but decisions are being made based on your “Individual race”. Hmmmm how about we provide equity to EVERYONE and place students in the appropriate classes for their proficiency levels and get them to a level of success and beyond. That means focus on ACADEMICS for all!!!
