REDCOM Great Lakes Sailors proudly supported the Returning Warrior Workshop (RWW) in Chicago, helping Reserve Sailors and their families reconnect and move forward following active-duty deployment.

They answered the call. Now, we stand ready to support their return.

The RWW provides mobilized and deployed Reserve Sailors with the resources, guidance and support needed to reconnect with loved ones and successfully transition back to civilian life.

Service does not end when the deployment does. Supporting our returning warriors strengthens our families, our force and our Navy.

Special thanks to Mr. Shannon Heberling, Douglas Roper and the entire team whose dedication made this important event possible.

REDCOM Great Lakes came together to complete our Physical Readiness Test. Whether indoors or out on the course, everyone showed up ready to put in the work and support one another.

The PRT is more than a requirement. It's an opportunity to challenge ourselves, build resilience, and demonstrate the commitment that keeps us mission ready. Seeing our team encourage each other and push through every event was a great reminder of what makes this command strong.

Outstanding job to everyone who participated. Mission readiness starts with physical readiness, and this team continues to set the standard.

Today, REDCOM Great Lakes conducted a Dress White Uniform Inspection, showcasing the professionalism, pride, and attention to detail that define our command. From crisp presentation to military bearing, our Sailors demonstrated the discipline and commitment to excellence expected of the United States Navy.

Congratulations to YNSN Niya Nelson, who was recognized for setting the standard in uniform appearance and military professionalism during today’s inspection. In recognition of her exceptional performance, Commander Kent Bubel presented her with a challenge coin.

⚓ REDCOM Great Lakes bids farewell to Personnel Specialist 1st Class (PS1) Green after a career of dedicated service.

Throughout her time here, PS1 Green served as a trusted subject matter expert, known for her professionalism, knowledge, and commitment to every Sailor she supported. Her impact has been felt not only across our command, but throughout the region.

PS1 Green will be remembered for her calm leadership, kind spirit, and willingness to help others. She led with patience and understanding, turning challenges into teaching moments while helping Sailors grow both personally and professionally. No matter the situation, she remained approachable, supportive, and committed to taking care of her team.

Her leadership, mentorship, and dedication have left a lasting mark on REDCOM Great Lakes and the many Sailors fortunate enough to serve alongside her.

Today, REDCOM Great Lakes honored the retirement of Logistics Specialist Senior Chief Shannon Heberling following a distinguished Navy career defined by service, leadership and unwavering dedication.

Throughout a career spanning assignments across the United States and overseas, including Japan, Germany, Ireland, Kuwait and Qatar, Senior Chief Heberling answered the call wherever duty led, supporting the Navy’s mission around the globe.

Known by shipmates for his remarkable kindness, positivity and genuine willingness to help others, Senior Chief Heberling made a lasting impact both in and out of uniform. Through his leadership in the Yellow Ribbon Program and Warrior Family Support Program, he demonstrated a deep commitment to caring for Sailors and military families.

Family, friends, shipmates and colleagues gathered to celebrate a career marked not only by professional excellence, but by compassion, mentorship and service to others.

REDCOM Great Lakes proudly recognizes Yeoman 1st Class (YN1) Elijah Silas on his selection to the Training and Administration of the Reserve (TAR) In-Service Procurement Program (ISPP) for the surface warfare officer (SWO) community. He will attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) and commission as an ensign before proceeding on to his community training pipeline.

As a YN, Silas is widely recognized across the command as a motivated, team-oriented leader who leads by example. A hard charger with a strong commitment to physical fitness, he consistently challenges junior Sailors to reach their goals while helping build and sustain a positive command culture. His leadership extends beyond the mission, taking time to invest in the wellbeing of the shipmate behind the uniform as much as the Sailor.

He now carries that same drive and professionalism forward as he prepares to begin Officer Candidate School.

Congratulations, YN1. We are proud of you and look forward to your continued success. Hooyah, and onward to OCS!
