On October 6, 2024, Youth Dynamics officially joined Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch (YBGR)—now delivering expanded care to kids and families under the YBGR name. Below you’ll find more about our mission, values, and the full continuum of care we provide:

We provide a full continuum of mental health care for youth and their families, grounded in our mission and values. From community-based and in-school services to therapeutic group homes and PRTF residential care, we deliver seamless support tailored to each child’s unique needs, addressing a wide range of mental health conditions using evidence-based treatment models. Community-Based Services

Community-based services bring care to youth where they need it most—at home, in school, and in their community. From mentoring and case management to home support, outpatient therapy, family reunification programs, CSCT, and more, we ensure every child receives the right care at the right time in the least restrictive environment. Therapeutic Group Homes

When youth need more structured treatment than can be provided in the community or are stepping down from PRTF care, our Therapeutic Group Homes in Billings, Great Falls, Helena, and Boulder provide a supportive, family-like setting. PRTF Residential Care

For youth requiring more intensive therapeutic support, our historic PRTF campus in Billings delivers treatment in a structured, safe environment led by a multidisciplinary team of therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and educators. Families are essential partners, actively engaging in treatment and discharge planning.

Approximately 120 kids stopped by our booth this past Tuesday when our Miles City team joined Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center and other local resources for a huge outreach event to connect with families.

Kids had the chance to create their own coping-skills take-home bags, filling them with ideas and tools they can turn to when they need a little extra support.

Our team also shared information about YBGR services, handed out some swag, and added a little extra fun with a raffle.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to partner with organizations in our communities and meet kids and families where they are.

Sometimes a simple activity can open the door to an important conversation about mental health, healthy coping skills, and where to turn for support.

Daniel Thurston Family Support Specialist, was recently recognized by our leadership for living our value of Relationships and helping us Prepare More Youth for Life!

Daniel represented YBGR at Sunnyside Elementary School in Great Falls during its open house, connecting with families, sharing resources, and helping bring new referrals to our services.

For Daniel, the work is personal.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to enrich minds and help youth in our community by ensuring they have the resources and support they need. I have benefited from my own experiences at YBGR and am thankful for the team I work with. Every new smile and every youth we serve has deepened my appreciation for the world of mental health.”

Daniel also shared his appreciation for program therapist Ashley Lundin for believing in him and continually offering her support.

“She reminds me daily of the difference we make for our youth.”

When kids feel emotionally safe, something powerful happens—they open up, ask questions, take healthy risks, and grow.

That sense of safety doesn’t mean a lack of expectations. It means knowing the adults around them are consistent, caring, and steady—even when mistakes happen.

Emotional safety gives kids the confidence to lean in, try again, and believe they’re worth showing up for.

In 1971, a new lodge at the Ranch was named in honor of John McVay, a man whose generosity helped shape the Ranch’s future.

McVay challenged the Ranch to secure the gifts needed to construct the lodge, promising a $75,000 endowment gift once the goal was reached.

Donors answered that challenge, and John McVay Lodge soon welcomed its first kids.

The gift was about more than one building.

It reflected a forward-thinking commitment to ensuring the Ranch could care for its facilities and its kids for generations to come.

More than 50 years later, we remain grateful for John McVay and the many donors, staff, and friends who believed in the Ranch’s mission and helped build the foundation we stand on today.

Our history was built by people who cared.

This Labor Day, we celebrate the caring people behind our mission.

Every day, our team brings their whole heart to serving kids and families across Montana. Whether providing care directly or supporting that work behind the scenes, each person plays an important role in preparing youth for life.

Today, we recognize them and the difference they make every day.

Hey, Park County! Thank you for showing up for kids and families during this year's Give a Hoot campaign!

Once again, the generosity of Walter and Regina Wunsch and so many others in our community blew us away.

Every gift helps us continue providing care and support throughout the Livingston area.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community that believes in caring for its neighbors and creating brighter futures for kids.

Thank you for making a difference right here in Park County and helping us prepare more youth for life.

Sometimes the most meaningful connections happen when kids can share how far they’ve come.

Kids from the Ranch recently volunteered at the annual Phillips 66 Meet in the Park event.

They spent the evening planting seeds with children, blowing up beach balls, handing out frisbees, and visiting with families.

When a woman kindly asked if they were part of the Ranch program, one of our kids proudly replied, “Actually, I am, and I am doing really good!”

The other kid pulled out the coins he had earned through his recovery journey and proudly shared with her his progress toward sobriety.

What started as an evening of giving back became an opportunity for our kids to recognize something important in themselves; their growth is worth celebrating, and their stories can encourage others.

We’re incredibly proud of the confidence they showed while representing YBGR and connecting with our community.

They weren’t just handing out frisbees and planting seeds, they were sharing hope, too.
