Friends~
Tomorrow, November 7th, is election day. We'll not only be voting for the school bond, but also for City Council and NT School Board candidates. I've served one term for the City Council and I'm running for another term.

I appreciate my supporters! It's been four years of non-stop learning as a Council member. My first year on the Council was a rough one...the summer of Covid and I was the chairperson over recreation (still am). We all learned a lot together that summer!

There's still so much to learn. I'm asking for your vote so I can continue to serve Traer residents over the next four years. I appreciate your feedback, vote, and confidence in me!

Telegraph note: With three Traer City Council at-large seats on the Nov. 7 ballot, the North Tama Telegraph sent out a questionnaire by email to all five candidates who filed paperwork including incumbents Carri Holst and Trish Kennedy, and challengers Derek Gaydos, Brad E. Rund, and Chad Taylor. Be...

We are able to experience so much good in our small community! There's a group of community volunteers that are in the planning stages of Traer's Sesquicentennial Celebration. Kudos to those individuals who are giving their time not only to help us celebrate our 150 years but that are working to improve our community for years to come!

We have a logo for our 150-years!

As part of the year-long Sesquicentennial celebration, we'll be introducing a POLISH UP TAYLOR PARK initiative. The park is the centerpiece of our community and the recent derecho took a toll on trees, landscaping, and our shelter house. We've rebuilt a beautiful shelter house and fortunately, the gazebo bandstand is still standing, however, it's time to focus our efforts on making Taylor Park shipshape again.

Planning is underway to address repairs to the gazebo, updates to the play equipment and restrooms, replacement of the driveway, trees and landscaping projects, and maintenance to the entrance archway. We'll be getting these efforts underway in 2023 during our 150th anniversary year with the intent that the Taylor Park initiative will be an investment for future generations.

All residents and visitors benefit from a green space they are proud to stroll in, play in, picnic in, and hold events in. Green spaces not only increase the quality of life for a community but also increase the value and pride we have in our land.

Stay tuned for more information about the POLISH UP TAYLOR PARK initiative!

Tuesday is Election Day. Locally, we have candidates running for mayor, city council, and the school board. Hopefully, youโ€™ve been able to meet or learn about the new candidates.

Itโ€™s important to exercise your right to vote. While Iโ€™ve heard people say that their vote doesnโ€™t count, it matters. Votes mattered to one of many candidates across the country who lost only by one ballot.

Support your candidates and vote. Voting will take place at the Memorial Building.

If you hear a fire truck this morning driving around town and honking, that is our firemen bringing awareness to Fire Prevention Week๏ฟผ๏ฟผ.

Weโ€™re a small community with many dedicated and courageous fireman. I would like to say thank you for keeping us safe!

More info from www.nfpa.org โ€ฆ
During Fire Prevention Week, children, adults, and teachers learn how to stay safe in case of a fire. Firefighters provide lifesaving public education in an effort to drastically decrease casualties caused by fires.

As the world looks back on two decades since the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, NFPA Journal examines four ways the incident changed fire and life safety forever.

Traer Community Friends,

Summer is coming soon! Usually I'm able to hire a Pool Manager in March. This year, I've had no applications. If you are interested in a summer position, please apply or talk to me. There is a lot to be done soon to prepare to open the pool. We do have one assistant manager who would help train the new manager.

There is also the option to have two people manage together. This might be good for teachers or those with a summer break.

Due to Covid, we have just a few lifeguards because of limited training. However, we have a certified instructor willing to teacher a certification class at the Traer Pool closer to opening. Lifeguards must be 15 years of age.

Please talk to me if you have a son or daughter interested in guarding or if you'd like to know more about managing.
