You may notice smoke throughout the area over the next few hours. A minor cold front is moving through and carrying smoke from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County towards Hood County.

Please continue to remain cautious, as conditions are extremely dry and the risk of grass fires remains high.

Wildfire smoke and reduced visibilities are being reported near the Ross Fire (located in Palo Pinto/Jack counties). Visibilities as low as 1-2 miles and poor air quality can be expected in any dense smoke. The smoke will continue to spread south/southeast through the afternoon and evening. Drive with caution, slow down, and leave extra space between you and other vehicles.

We are aware of smoke being reported across majority of Hood County.

At this time, the smoke is primarily the result of active fires in neighboring counties, including the . Hood County has also experienced a few isolated fires recently, but those incidents have been contained and extinguished by local fire departments.

🔥 There is currently no active wildfire incidents in Hood County as of 11:00am. Please remain tuned into Hood County Emergency Management and Everbridge notifications for any updates that concern public safety.

Our local departments remain vigilant and continue to monitor conditions closely. Firefighters throughout Hood County are prepared to respond should conditions change.

We ask residents to remain aware of their surroundings, avoid outdoor burning, and rely on official information from local fire and emergency management agencies rather than social media speculation.
