GOOCHLAND, VA - On June 11, 2026, at approximately 9:53 a.m., deputies with the Goochland County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported robbery at the Oilville Pit Stop, located at 1420 Broad Street Road.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the business and threatened to use a firearm if the employee did not hand over money. After obtaining the money, the suspect fled the scene on foot into a nearby wooded area.

Deputies quickly responded to the area and, through their immediate coordinated efforts, located and apprehended the suspect without incident. During the investigation and subsequent search of the suspect and area, no firearm was located.

The suspect was identified as Michael Ray Good, 59, of Richmond, Virginia.

Through the course of the investigation, deputies determined that Good had arrived at the business in a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Henrico County. It was also determined that Good had an outstanding warrant from Augusta County, Virginia for Failure to Appear on a charge of Driving Revoked, DUl-related.

As a result of the investigation, Good was charged with Robbery, a felony; Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, a felony; and Driving While Revoked, DUI-related, a misdemeanor. He is currently being held without bond at Pamunkey Regional Jail pending his court date.

Goochland County Deputy R. Combs graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy after an outstanding performance throughout the program!

During the academy, Deputy Combs earned Top Physical Fitness, Top Academic Achievement, Top Overall Achievement, and the Charles E. Murray Top Performance Achievement Award. He was also selected to deliver the class remarks at graduation, reflecting the respect he earned among his classmates and instructors.

We are proud to welcome Deputy Combs to the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office and look forward to his continued service to our community!

The Goochland County Sheriff's Office is investigating multiple reports of vehicles being rummaged through in the 1500 block of Whippoorwill Road and the 2000 block of Sycamore Creek Drive.

Several vehicles have been confirmed to have been entered and are being processed as part of the investigation. Deputies are working to determine the full scope of the incidents and identify those responsible.

The Goochland County Sheriff's Office reminds residents to lock their vehicle doors and avoid leaving valuable items inside their vehicles, particularly in plain view.

This is an ongoing investigation.

After decades of service to Goochland County, Lt. Troy May and Sgt. Shawn Creasey recently retired from the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. May’s steady leadership and ability to keep people smiling helped make even the busiest days lighter.

Sgt. Creasey is known by just about everyone in Goochland, building relationships throughout the community and leaving a lasting impression on those he met along the way.

Together, they devoted well over 45 years to serving Goochland County! While retirement is well earned, both will be greatly missed.

We thank them for their service and wish them and their families all the best in the years ahead.

The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office stands with the Chesterfield County Police Department following yesterday’s tragic incident that left two officers critically injured and a K9 killed in the line of duty.

Our thoughts are with the injured officers, their families, and the entire Chesterfield County Police Department as they navigate the days ahead.
