Be safe, Ascension!

⚠️ WATERWAY CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠️

Due to rising water levels, ongoing and forecasts indicating continued unfavorable conditions, all Ascension Parish waterways are being closed effective immediately for public safety.

These closures are necessary to help protect boaters, property owners, and emergency personnel from hazardous conditions associated with high water, strong currents, floating debris, and reduced visibility.

Residents are urged to avoid waterways and remain weather aware as conditions continue to be monitored. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available and conditions improve.

For the latest information, follow Ascension Parish Government’s official communication channels.

Please stay safe and do not attempt to access closed waterways.

NOTICE: Marvin Braud Boatway Closure

Due to a combination of sustained high easterly winds, rising water levels, and forecast rainfall, the Marvin Braud Boatway is being closed effective immediately.

Current conditions have created safety concerns and may continue to worsen as weather impacts persist. The boatway will remain closed until conditions improve and it is safe to reopen.

Please avoid the area and make alternate plans if you intended to utilize the boatway. Updates will be provided as conditions change.

NOTICE: Marvin Braud Boat Launch will close beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, for pre-drawdown operations due to unusually high water elevations and the current weather forecast.

Please plan accordingly for any boating or water activities that may require vessel launching, as the boatway will remain closed throughout this event.

We appreciate the public’s cooperation and understanding as crews continue monitoring conditions and taking proactive measures for safety.
