The Daily Gazette contacted us about a mailer we sent to members of the Conservative Party in Glenville that lays out clearly that Bud Watson who is running on the Conservative line is a fraud. Democrats and their allies have been online trying to twist the meaning of the mailer for their own purposes and whispering in the ear of their progressive allies in the press. Here are the facts: Bud Watson goes along with biological boys playing girls sports. We do not. The State Conservative Party Platform does not. 80% of Americans ( see article below do not). As much as Democrats want to spin this the truth is they and Bud Watson are on the side of left wing extremists and we stand with those demanding fairness and privacy for female athletes. We are the real Conservative candidates in this race- period.
STATEMENT FROM TEAM GLENVILLE ON CONSERVATIVE MAILER
" Democrats can’t have it both ways. You don’t get to continually take the conservative line in local politics, a line that agrees with us that biological boys should not be allowed to play girls sports, and then condemn your opponents for mailing conservatives to point out that simple fact. We, as true conservatives, believe in protecting spaces for women and girls. This does not negate the importance of safe spaces for all students. However, if Mr. Watson was really a conservative, he would not coach in an environment where he would be forced to allow a biological male to play a girl’s sport, to share her locker room in direct contrast to the NYS Conservative party platform. The intent of the mailer was to expose the inherent conflict between being a Democrat and a Conservative, as Mr. Watson claims to be both. If we, in an attempt to sway more moderate voters, called ourselves progressive while espousing no progressive ideals, we would expect democrats to call us out as well. When you take the conservative line, voters expect conservative values. Voters deserve to know who they’re voting for. You took the Conservative line, Mr. Watson, so stop avoiding the question: do you believe, as 79% of Americans and 67% of Democrats do, that letting boys play girls sports is wrong or do you stand with the far left?
We are disheartened by the distortion of facts and the misrepresentation of our intentions. We continue, as always, to run an honest, fact-driven campaign so we may serve all the residents of Glenville."
