Filip Czarnecki, a dedicated Lake Forest police officer who has spent his career serving and protecting the community. While on a personal vacation visiting family in Nicaragua, Filip suffered a tragic fall onto his head that caused a severe traumatic brain injury. He is now in critical condition in the ICU in León, Nicaragua, on a ventilator and in a coma.
Right now, Filip needs urgent help getting access to better medical care. A specialized international air ambulance transport to the United States is his best chance at recovery. Once back in Chicago, Filip can receive care from neurological doctors, better scans, and a more progressive and aggressive treatment needed to help heal his TBI and mitigate long-term neurological damage. His wife, sister, and mother are graciously asking for help to care for Fil and get him the best medical help possible during this crisis.
