The Glendora Public Works Yard supports many of the day-to-day operations that keep the city running.

In 1991, a Texaco gas station originally built in the 1940s to serve travelers along Route 66 was relocated to the yard as a temporary workshop — and that structure is still in use today.

As the city has grown, the needs of this department have also changed. The yard currently has limited space and infrastructure to store equipment and support operations.

This post is part of our ongoing effort to share information about the facilities that serve Glendora and provide context on their current condition.

The Glendora Police Department operates out of a facility that was built in 1966 for a much smaller department.

At that time, Glendora’s population was approximately 25,000, and the department consisted of 37 members. Today, the city’s population has grown significantly, and 62 members of the department work out of the same station.

As the community has grown, the department's needs have also changed, placing greater demand on the space.

This post is part of our ongoing effort to share information about the facilities that serve Glendora and provide context on their current condition.

Hello Glendora,

We are the Facilities Restructuring of Glendora (FROG) Committee — a group of local residents working to better understand the condition of our city’s facilities.

Our goal is to help inform the community by sharing facts, history, and the current state of the facilities that serve Glendora, while also exploring ways to address these needs before they become more serious.

Starting this week, we will be posting weekly education posts highlighting different parts of the city, including the police department, public works, city hall, the library, and more.

We invite you to follow along, stay informed, and be part of the conversation.
