🍻We had an incredible weekend with our Oktoberfest event and meeting the wonderful band members from the Bavarian Brass Band.

🚐We had the pleasure of taking the band on a tour of Glendale with stops in Historic Downtown Glendale, The Spicery in Our 1895 Home, a Glendale Fire Station, Manistee Ranch, Westgate and more!

Glendale Sister Cities Board members were invited to attend this annual Global Ties of Arizona fundraiser last night. We enjoyed mingling, great table company, food and entertainment! All proceeds benefited Global Ties programs. A great night!!

🎉We were thrilled to be a part of the Glendale Community College International Festival held this week. We enjoyed meeting all the visitors to the event. We shared information about our Glendale organization and all the programs and activities we have throughout the year. Thank you to GCC for the opportunity to attend!

📚Our Board of Directors just returned from the 36th Annual Arizona Sister Cities State Conference in Sedona.

🌵 Representatives from across Arizona joined together to learn, connect and grow the statewide programs.

🌍The theme of the conference was "Finding Common Ground, The Heart of Creating, Revitalizing and Growing Sister Cities." The Board is excited for the new year and expanding on the Glendale programs including our growing partnership with Global Ties Arizona.

🎉Today is Sister Cities International Day. This special day is celebrated on October 14th to honor the birthday of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who established Sister Cities International (SCI) in 1956. SCI is a network of volunteers and citizen diplomats who promote peace and strengthen local communities through sister city programs.

😊We are excited for the year ahead for the Glendale AZ Sister Cities organization and all the impactful and exciting programs and activities we have planned.

❓Did you know...

🍺Since 1950, the festival has only started after the official gun salute, the mayor shouting O’ zapft is! (“It’s tapped!”) and then offering the first mug to the Minister-President of the State of Bavaria. Only after these events have taken place can the festival start.
