Shortly after 6:00AM this morning, a Deputy with the Sheriff's Office located a stolen vehicle traveling north on Parkview Drive in Frontenac.

The vehicle had been reported stolen less than an hour before in the city of Girard.

When the Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled.

The Deputy initiated a pursuit that continued north on the bypass around Arma, where an officer with the Arma Police Department successfully deployed a tire deflation device.

The pursuit eventually entered the city of Fort Scott where the pursuit ended.

The driver and passenger attempted to flee on foot from the vehicle but were apprehended almost immediately.

Both occupants of the vehicle, who were identified as juvenile males, were taken into custody and transported to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office and processed by juvenile intake.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Arma Police Department, the Fort Scott Police Department and the Bourbon County Kansas Sheriff's Office.

Their names will not be released at this time, and the suspects have the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in court.

Four of our own had the opportunity to participate in the Joplin Fallen Officers Memorial Golf Tournament at Briarbrook Golf Course today.

We were honored to take part in an event that brings our law enforcement community together while remembering the officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.

A huge thank-you to Walker Automotive for sponsoring our team and making it possible for us to participate. We are grateful for your generosity and continued support of law enforcement! 💙⛳️

Today marks 33 years since Ginger May Hudson disappeared from Crawford County.

Ginger was 33 years old when she went missing from the Pittsburg, Kansas area on August 19, 1993.

Ginger was last seen by a neighbor at approximately 3:30 p.m., outside her mobile home located on 180th Street, approximately one-eighth of a mile north of 560th Avenue.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Ginger’s boyfriend arrived home and discovered Ginger was gone. Her belongings had been left behind.

Ginger had four young children, and it would have been unlike her to abruptly leave. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance.

At the time she disappeared, Ginger was approximately 5'4" tall and 150 pounds, with auburn hair and hazel eyes. She had a surgical scar on the inside of her bottom lip and was last known to be wearing a white sleeveless shirt and dark-colored shorts.

For 33 years, Ginger’s family and our community have been left without answers.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Bureau of Investigation continue to urge anyone with information concerning Ginger’s disappearance to come forward.

If you remember something from August 19, 1993, heard something in the years afterward, or have information you have never previously shared with law enforcement, we encourage you to contact investigators.

On Monday afternoon, 08-17-2026, Deputies and Detectives with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office conducted a school bus stop-arm violation operation in Pittsburg and the surrounding area. Seven USD 250 school buses were followed by marked and unmarked patrol vehicles to educate drivers who ignored the red flashing lights and stop arms while buses were loading or unloading children. As a result of the operation and earlier-in-the-day efforts, three traffic stops were made, and citations were issued to all three drivers for Improper Passing of a School Bus.

The out-of-pocket cost for this infraction could be $423 or more. The community and personal cost for this infraction could be a child's life.

We will continue to proactively and progressively protect our community through operations like these, without apology. No exceptions. No excuses. Please give our children a break and drive cautiously and considerately around our schools and school buses.

Please keep an eye out for operations like these coming soon to our other school districts in Crawford County.
