I am leaving this comment here to address some of the recent discussion I’ve seen regarding the data center. The allegations of kickbacks and payoffs made against our council and commission members are reckless and disgusting. These public servants are working hard for our city and do not deserve baseless attacks. I’d also like to remind everyone that our city is currently experiencing an all-time low in volunteerism. Our Recreation, Beautification, and Waterways commissions are critically short-staffed, with the Waterways Commission having zero members under the age of 75. If you care about this city and how it’s run, I strongly encourage you to get involved and start volunteering.

"I have volunteered my time to the City of Gibraltar serving on the Planning Commission and Downtown Development Authority for around 15 years now. That’s time that I could have spent doing a lot of other things that could have brought me a lot of joy and satisfaction. Instead I chose to give back to my community and invest my time and effort to make it a better place to live. If you add up the amount of money that I’ve been compensated by the city and all of the kick backs that I’ve received from data center developers it would easily add up to a grant total of $0.00. So all of you conspiracy theorists out there can take your diatribe and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. My advice is rather than sit there and be a keyboard warrior, actually get involved with your city to make things better. At the Planning Commission meeting this past Tuesday there was a grand total of one person who bothered to show up and voice her concerns and ask informed, educated questions. I applaud her for that. The rest of you should be embarrassed by your lack of involvement when it truly matters."
