Hello Southwest Middle School families!
This is Dr. Davria with this week’s information and updates.
First, a reminder that this Wednesday, Sept 16, is a professional development day for our teachers and staff, so there will be no school for students that day.
We have also kicked off our SWMS Calendar Fundraiser! Students will receive a Southwest Middle School calendar in homeroom and are invited to participate.
Here’s how it works: students can sell individual days on the calendar for the value of that day. For example, someone could purchase Day 4 for $4 or Day 21 for $21. Students can sell as many days as they would like.
And we have some great incentives! Students who raise $15 will be invited to a pizza party. Students who raise $200 will receive a Southwest Middle School T-shirt in addition to the pizza party. And students who sell an entire calendar—raising $465—will earn a spot on our bowling outing on October 15!
The fundraiser runs through September 25. Students may begin bringing in the money they have raised during the week of September 21.
Most importantly, all proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly back to our Southwest Middle School students and staff. We appreciate your support and hope our Roadrunners will have fun participating!
We also have some Southwest athletics this week. Our girls softball team plays at home on Monday against Belmont and travels to Stanley for an away game on Thursday, and our golf team has a match on Monday. Come out and support our student-athletes!
Finally, please save the date for our Beginning-of-the-Year Block Party on Monday, September 28, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. We are excited to bring our Roadrunner families together for an evening of fun and community!
