Exciting news from Liberal Area Coalition for Families!
Kansas is expanding family support services through the Community Service Block Grant, which helps local organizations reduce poverty, strengthen communities, and connect families with needed resources.
Liberal Area Coalition for Families will soon serve 13 counties, including Finney County, while NEK-CAP will expand services in northwest Kansas.
Part of Red Dog’s mission is to partner with local agencies that share our goal of helping our littlest red dogs thrive. Currently, both Red Dog Children’s Museum and Liberal Area Coalition for Families are involved in the Children and Families Network Local Interagency Coordinating Council, where our Executive Director, Jenny, serves as vice chair. Stronger family support systems mean more children and families can be connected to safe, educational, hands-on learning opportunities and future resources as these services become available.🦬❤️
We have BIG NEWS!!!!
Liberal Area Coalition for Families to serve as new Community Services Block Grant Eligible Entity
We are pleased to share that Liberal Area Coalition for Families (LACF), soon to be known as Community Action Coalition for Families (CACF), has agreed to become a Kansas Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) Eligible Entity and will include a 13-county CSBG service area. The 13 counties include Finney, Ford, Grant, Gray, Hamilton, Haskell, Hodgeman, Kearny, Meade, Morton, Seward, Stanton, and Stevens.
In addition, NEK-CAP, Inc. will add 22 counties to their legacy 16-county CSBG service area to serve a total of 38 counties. The 22 counties include Barton, Cheyenne, Decatur, Ellis, Gove, Graham, Greeley, Lane, Logan, Ness, Norton, Phillips, Rawlins, Rooks, Rush, Scott, Sheridan, Sherman, Thomas, Trego, Wallace, and Wichita.
The primary intended use of the CSBG grant funds awarded to Kansas and to sub-grantees is “to provide assistance to local communities in Kansas, working through a network of Community Action Agencies and other neighborhood-based organizations, for the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities, and the empowerment of low-income families and individuals in rural and urban areas to strive for self-sufficiency.”
Both organizations are currently in transition to serve the designated CSBG service areas. KHRC will make an announcement in the coming months when full CSBG services will be available through LACF and NEK-CAP, Inc. Currently, both organizations can provide information and referrals only.
