Iowa gubernatorial candidate Zach Lahn says he wants to bring Iowa grown food to Iowa school lunch plates.

Iowa has some of the best farmland in the world, yet still imports 95% of its food.

Lahn says if elected governor, that changes.

His goal: at least 80% of the food served in Iowa schools coming directly from Iowa farmers.

USDA is putting American beef in American schools, hospitals, prisons, and veterans facilities.

Under Secretary Brooke Rollins’ new Ranchers First Initiative, USDA will prioritize locally processed, American raised beef when government institutions buy food.

That means federal food dollars flowing back to American ranchers and local processors.

Better food for American institutions and stronger markets for the ranchers who feed America.
