Today, Supervisor Garry Bredefeld joined the Fresno County Board of Supervisors for its August 25 meeting.

We began by recognizing Laura J. Lambright upon her retirement after 17 years of dedicated service with the Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health. We thank Laura for her commitment to Fresno County and wish her the very best in retirement!

Additional meeting highlights included:

🏠 The Board voted 5–0 to advance an ordinance establishing real-property fraud prevention notices. The ordinance will return for a second hearing on September 8.

🏗️ Proposed updates to Fresno County’s building and construction codes were continued to September 8 due to an issue with the required publication.

🎶 The Board voted 5–0 to allow a proposed special-event facility to move forward under all recommended conditions and additional neighborhood protections. These include requiring music to end by 10:00 p.m. and measures addressing noise and light pollution.

🏘️ The Board voted 5–0 to approve the cancellation of a Williamson Act contract affecting approximately 38 acres near Fowler, allowing the property to move toward annexation and development as a residential subdivision.

The consent agenda was also approved 5–0. Among other actions, the Board:

✅ Awarded approximately $3.1 million for SB 1-funded asphalt overlays and road rehabilitation.

✅ Continued support for Advanced Life Support and paramedic first-responder services.

✅ Supported the Fresno County Sheriff’s Jeep Rescue Unit and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California.

✅ Continued Community Development Block Grant support for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County, Marjaree Mason Center and Westside Youth.

✅ Approved agreements supporting inpatient psychiatric care and substance-use disorder treatment services.

We remain committed to public safety, responsible government, stronger infrastructure and delivering essential services to Fresno County residents.

🐾 Today is Fresno County Board of Supervisors meeting day! 🏛️

The Board is scheduled to meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Hall of Records to consider items impacting Fresno County residents.

Among today’s presentations is Agenda Item 4, recognizing Fresno Humane Animal Services’ Pet of the Month — and this month’s featured pup is Freddy! 🐶❤️

Freddy is a 3-year-old Labrador Retriever mix looking for a loving home. He may be a little shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and maybe a treat or two 🦴, he quickly warms up and shows off his sweet personality.

Thinking about adopting? 🏡 Adoptions are just $25, and Freddy will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before heading home.

🏛️ County business.
🐾 A great local program.
❤️ And maybe your new best friend.

☀️ Extremely hot weather is expected across Fresno County this week. As families head to pools, lakes, rivers and other waterways to cool off, please make water safety a priority.

Wear a life jacket, never swim alone, closely supervise children, stay hydrated, avoid alcohol while swimming or boating, and always follow posted warnings.

A few simple precautions can help prevent a tragedy. Stay cool, stay alert and stay safe, Fresno County.

🌲 Help Shape the Future of New Central Valley State Parks

California State Parks is seeking input from residents and community stakeholders as planning moves forward for three new state parks in the Central Valley.

The State Parks Forward Survey takes approximately 5–10 minutes and allows participants to provide feedback on one park or all three. Community input will help guide future recreation opportunities, park access, amenities, conservation efforts, and public engagement.

📅 Survey deadline: September 4, 2026

For constituent matters, please contact the District 2 office at [email protected] or (559) 600-2000.
